That's essentially your choice- In my opinion, we need one of each to both search and protect (duh). Ideally, the Retri would revive the other role.
This does screw us out of a Vig revive, though. I feel that we can find, roleblock, and lynch scum quickly enough, but that's open to debate.

If we lynch Rock Day 8, he will get 3 kills on confirmed townies. If we lynch Knock day 8 he will have two chances to kill someone, which can be prevented by protectives and transporter.
