I don't agree. I don't think its sexist or dehumanizing. As others have stated, it has nothing inherently to do with sex work.

Even if it were, someone who voluntarily decides to sell access to their own body isn't inherently sexist or dehumanizing in any way. If anything, revoking their liberties to participate in such activities would be more dehumanizing because it forbids them from exercising their self volition. It reeks of not having any respect for the personal choices of the person in question.

It's a role in a video game, and the role reflects how it is in reality. Escorts (sexual or not) exist IRL and they have since the beginning of history. And there are many who have been in that industry (or the sex industry over all) by their own choice and they enjoy being in it, so it's not entirely "dehumanizing or oppressive", that's only what the PC crowd wants to label it because they want to make it seem like everyone is in it because they were forced to do so.

I'd honestly prefer to keep that politically correct crap out of this game. Let the role, as well as Consort, be how it is now.

Political correctness is on the side of defending and justifying the so called "sex industry", more than it is on the side of labeling it as what it truly is. There should be nothing "industrial" about sex, and there is no such thing as "choice" in that "industry" if you have little humane concern and do a little bit of research on the matter. No woman or man ever wants their very soul, their dignity, their body to be a thing of service to complete strangers. This is absolute nonsense. It's only the economical, psychological, sociocultural conditions that "forces" them into it, either by making it an obligation for them to survive or by creating the self-harming illusion that this is, or "it's supposed to be", what they want. Calling relationships based on physical benefit - not trust and loyalty "sexual autonomy" is the defensive argument for the modern, capitalist cuncubinage system. The sanctity of human dignity being violated under the justification of an ideological/dogmatic perception of "freedom of choice" does not serve the freedom of your fellow man or woman, it only serves a small elite that forces everybody and indoctrinates into the service of their subjective, pragmatic ideal of "liberty"; but you facing that truth is not in the best interest of the builders of the so called PC crowds, unfortunately.

If this game was played only by mature people and not by infantile ones, the escort role and name would not have any negative connotations. I agree in part with the original poster that it is sexist (despite protestations by supporters of the sex trade industry). However, I do not know what a better name for the role would be. Does the original poster have a suggestion of something better to call the escorts/consorts? The role itself is very important to the game. Escorts are often the reason that towns win.

In context of this game, escort is seen as a sexist role because of the infantile people who make it so. I can never be assigned the role of escort without some moronic jackass making off-color inappropriate and sexually harassing remarks about it. Likewise, has no one else read the wills of those same infantile jackasses when they are assigned escort. They don't write wills that say n1: Jane, they write nonsense like n1: fucked Jane so hard and she is moaning for more yelling deeper deeper(sorry for writing that but it does not even compare to what these infantile morons write routinely in games)

Many, many, many times I have reported players for sexual harassment based on their response to me being assigned escort or consort. I have not followed up on whether anything happened to the players. I would honestly be surprised if anything happened to them because they never stop.

Instead, they are paid handsomely (like $300 to $500 an hour) for their "conversation," and the fact that they choose to have sex with the person who paid them for conversation is just a coincidence also known as a legal loophole so they are not arrested.

Despite some people's proclivity and fondness for sexual games and innuendo, TOS is not a game about sex. The OP is being greatly disrespected by people who want TOS to be a sex game and who admit that they are sexual harassers in this game when they are assigned the role of escort/consort.

You have a very pessimistic outlook on things. Not to mention, the escort business is actually still quite large and quite legit. Maybe not in movies and political propaganda, but there's more to the world than the U.S. of A.
