Role Name: Soothsayer

Role Alignment: Neutral Evil

Ability: Link 2 people's fates together

Wins with: Mafia
Serial Killers
Arsonists
Werewolves
Witches
Vampires
Loses with all else.

Goal: See Town crumble, whether dead or alive.

Attributes: Night Ability
Double checkbox ability
Linking player 1 and player 2 means if one is lynched, the other will be dealt a Basic attack.
You can only have 1 linked pair at a time.
Only player 1 knows of this linkage.
Bite immune

I like my version better: Doom Prophet

IMO this mechanic only works on a Neutral Chaos. It's too murderous to be an NE, and not murderous enough to be an NK. It also doesn't work as Coven because it would achieve a KPN of 1 from the start by cooperating with the other Coven members.

I still believe there are some key differences.

1. The attack is basic, so doctors and Bodyguards can stop it (perhaps even transporters, need to think about that)
2. This only works for lynches rather than kills. This I think is more balanced as it means that random kills at night are not affected. This role is supposed to discourage lynching specific people, not specifically to kill them.
3. As only 1 person is informed, this role is easy to fake and can be used in several situations.
4. Only 1 pair can be linked at a time, so this doesn't spiral out of control.

I think the largest difference is the fact 1 player has to be lynched specifically. This stops it from achieving that 1 kpn as obviously town will avoid lynching cursed members.

transporters shouldnt be able to stop it but should change the link
does it win if town loses?

Oh yes, I forgot the wincon. Neutral evils usually win if town loses. Lemme put that in!

i agree on it being NE, it would be a bit unbalanced for ranked but is overall a good role

So that it can be faked by evil roles. They can say, 'Hey dont lynch me, or X will die', and X wont know if this is true or not.

But this also gives target 1 the ability to hide the fact that he was cursed, and target 2 won't have any way to figure it out.

No Town would hide the fact they are cursed... I mean, currently, this role is even not that strong IMO. Bodyguards kill the Soothsayer, Doctors can heal from it, and Lookouts can help the cause too. I mean, it can work with both people knowing, and 2 Mafia's trying it out, but it makes it hard to fake.

Also, there are reasons why people might find it better to out themselves as cursed. Saying it does prevent them being lynched, unless protective roles want to change up their plans just to protect the person who may die, leaving powerful roles unprotected for the night. I think I will make a poll about this! Thanks :)

Wow I do actually really like this role!

Yes, I agree with your arguments that only one person should be told; but is the soothsayer allowed to re-curse whenever they want and bond different people?
If so, then would the original people be told they were no longer cursed?

I don't think BG should be able to save the cursed person... I feel like that would be a really easy way to kill the Soothsayer (when Player 1 says that they are bonded, then why can't BG just guard P2 and end the Soothsayer's game?)

Plus Doc can't heal Mayor so this can even out.

How does BG stop the kill, anyway? BG counterattacks killing visits. In the particular case of Poisoner, it counterattacks when the visit happens, not when the kill happens - that sets a precedent.

Having the Bodyguard counterattack the Soothsayer's visit immediately, without waiting for the kill to go through, seems a bit much; but the Bodyguard's protect won't function any later than that.
