I'm back, with my third role idea here! If you do end up liking this idea, have a look at my 2 other ideas in my signature, you may like them!
Name:
Sorcerer
Alignment:
Neutral Evil
Role Card:
Summary:
A skilled wizard who can replicate any object
Abilities:
Duplicate any object found in the last home you visited.
Attributes:
You will not know what you have duplicated.
You may not duplicate items of unique roles.
Goal:
Survive to see the Town lose
Victory Conditions:
Wins with:
Mafia, Serial Killers, Arsonists, Werewolves, Vampires, Survivors, Witches
Must kill:
Town
Special Attributes:
Unique
Detection Immune
Investigative Results:
Investigator (v2.1 of orange's results):
Your target is a loner. They must be a Retributionist, Vampire Hunter, Sorcerer, or Witch.
Consigliere: Your target has two of everything in his home. They must be a Sorcerer.
Sheriff: Your target is not suspicious.
Additional Information:
It's hard to explain this role with just a role card.
Basically, you gain the ability of whatever role you just visited, and whenever you use it, you get a new ability to use.
You will not know what your ability will do, and will just have a one-target-button selection box.
You will receive any messages your role would have gotten. For more details about this, please see the interactions section.
Upon visiting a unique role, you will not know you couldn't duplicate the item, and will still pick a target and visit them. The visit will not do anything. The same will happen on N1, when you haven't duplicated an item yet.
Anyone killed by a Sorcerer in any way, will be shown to the Town as killed by whatever role they used to make the kill.
You do not have to use your duplicated item the very next night. You can hold on to it for as long as you want.
On Lookout results you show up as whoever's item you last duplicated, even if that person is dead.
On Investigator and Consigliere results you show up as whoever's item you last duplicated.
On Sheriff results you are always not suspicious.
Interactions:
Sheriff, Investigator, Lookout, Consigliere - You receive any results the respective role would have received
Spy, Vampire Hunter, Medium - As well as picking one person to target next, you will read any chats the role would have read. You show up as a Medium to the dead (if you duplicate a Medium's item).
Doctor, Bodyguard - You heal/guard your target. In the case of Bodyguard, you will die in the same way a Bodyguard would (protecting your target). You may target yourself as many times as you want. You receive any messages the role would have received.
Vampire Hunter - You kill your target if they are a Vampire.
Escort, Consort - You roleblock your target.
Transporter - You transport your target with yourself.
Vigilante, Serial Killer - You kill your target, and may receive the "immune" message if your target is immune. Even if you duplicate the Serial Killer's item, you will not kill Escorts and Consorts.
Arsonist - You douse your target. If you target yourself you ignite.
Witch - Anyone who visits you will instead visit your target.
Survivor - You are immune for the night (like a Survivor vest).
Framer, Blackmailer - You frame/blackmail your target.
Janitor, Forger, Disgusier - No effect
Vampire, Amnesiac, Jester, Executioner - No effect
Jailor, Mayor, Retributionist, Veteran, Godfather, Mafioso, Werewolf, Sorcerer - No effect (they are unique)
Example:
N1: Sorcerer targets 'Mr Allany'.
An Investigator targets him and gets the result for Sorcerer.
N2: Sorcerer targets 'Trump'sWall'. He gets the Investigator result for Doctor, Serial Killer, Disguiser. So Mr Allany is Investigator.
The Investigator targets him again and gets the result for Investigator.
N3: Sorcerer targets 'Noob'.
Now the Investigator gets the result for Serial Killer when he targets the Sorcerer. A Sheriff targets him and gets not suspicious. An Escort targets him and does not die.
D4: Noob dies - "He was stabbed by a Serial Killer." Noob's role was Doctor. So Trump'sWall is Serial Killer.
N5: Since the Sorcerer knows his previous target was a Doctor, he doesn't target anyone, and saves his heal for when he, or an ally, may need it.
N6: Now he targets himself, to protect himself.
A Lookout sees 'Noob' visiting the Sorcerer, even though Noob died some days ago.
N7: The Sorcerer has no role tonight because the last person he targeted was a unique role (himself). He targets Trump'sWall again.
The Investigator targets him once again, this time getting the result for Sorcerer.
N8: The Sorcerer goes AFK and his little brother makes him target himself. He dies the next morning, stabbed by a Serial Killer.
This role is pretty hard to explain completely, if you have any questions just ask and I'll explain it to you with more specific examples.
Messages:
"You have decided to use your item, and duplicate a new item, at <player name>'s house."
Achievements:
I need help with naming these.
Win 1, 5, 10, 25 games
Save yourself from death by healing yourself
Kill someone
Target yourself
Here's how you can help!
If you have time, please consider these points while commenting:
Should this be a Town role?
Should the public kill message just be "killed by Sorcerer"?
Should the mechanics of being investigated be changed?
Is the lore and terminology OK? Like duplicate, item etc.
Do you have any ideas for achievements?
Please tell me if anything about the role is poorly explained.
Thanks!
