It was getting a bit tiring for me to jump between posts and i can imagine the same would go for others so i thought i should group them up in one post. If i think of something new it will be added here and the updates will be easier to acomplish as this way it becomes clearer how one role would affect the other and easier for you to post your ideas on one post instead of multiple. Be sure to post any ideas you have about any of these roles.

CITIZEN

summarise: you are a regular civilian that isnt afraid to risk his life for other townies

Abilities chose to go courageous up to 3 times at night, if a town member is attacked you will get attacked instead.

Backstory
The citizen was always jealous of his friends who all had a talent at a certain factor. He grew up to be a regular civilian in town of salem trusting the authorities and living a good life. He knew everyone in the town of salem and everyone was admiring his positivity in life. One night he heard footsteps on the road. He witnessed anarmed man and realised he was targetting his neighbor the towns well known jailor. He knew he had to act. He gathered all his courage and went out putting himself in front of the bullet that was aimed at the jailor who was interogatting a prisoner. For one second he could see the mafiosos face, a trusted resident nobody was suspecting. If he could survive the injury he would make sure everyone knew the truth.

Backstory
Once a soldier the daggerman has been abandoned by his comrades when he was injured in a battle. He managed to escape beeing captured and recover from his injuries. He lived in a wooden house for a few months but once he had recovered completely he moved to the town of Salem. Nobody was aware of the hate he had developed to all humans from the day he nearly faced death. Soon a series of deaths started occurring, the victims have died from knives. The authorities were not able to read the letter one of the victims had left behind possibly exposing the killer as it had been destroyed by the knife of the killer. What was even weirder is that all the victims had died in the streets. The daggerman was not linked to any crimes. He continued his killing every night and the townies began blaming everyone but him.

backstory The silencer was always interested in magic. He was taught by the medium how to communicate with the dead but that wasnt enough for him. He trained his sences a lot in the point of beeing able to hear even the most silent whisper and managed to find a way to prevent the medium from speaking to the dead. The mafia offered him a place in their ranks and he was more than happy to accept. Speaking to the souls of the mafias previous victims he was able to inform them about any suspicion the town had and using his sensitive hearing he found out about the plans of the anti- mafia residents. Unfortunately he was discovered by the Jailor who executed him. The next night though as the godfather was ordering the mafioso to attack their next victim they heard a familiar voice. The silencer was communicating with them even after death!

Backstory
The hypnotist was passionate with magic from a young age. One of the witches few friends, he was always studying spell books, practicing his mindpower or investigating so called mystical locations. After years of practicing on day he managed to controll his friend the investigator and forced him to reveal false information to the town resulting in lynching an innocent escort. The investigator was jailed but he couldnt recall any of his actions. The town realised that it was a result of forbidden magic and accused the hypnotist as he was known to study about magic. He stated it was rather amusing seeing the escort beg for her life. They decided he was mad and commanded the jailor to jail him until they decided on his fate. The hypnotist escaped by hypnotising the jailor to let him free and left salem to live in the nearby mountains. From there he secretly helped the evildoers who began steadily overcome the innocent town members. Every time somebody claimed to have found an enemy of the town the others around him would wounder, was he helping the fight against the mafia or was he another victim of the lunatic who shore to destroy the town?


Avenger

summarise: you are a mad ex-agent that needs to blame someone for his unlucky life.

- a disarmed person cannot be protected by doctors/bodyguards/citizens although they will still visit him and a lookout watching him will not see any visitors
- if the dirarmed person is night immune he will lose night immunity for that night

- if your target is jailed you will jailbreak him rendering the jailor unable to execute and leaving him disarmed for the night
- you cant disarm a werewolf on full moon nights or an arsonist igniting

backstory
The avenger was one of the best agents in his country. When the mafia tried to expand to his homeland he quickly discovered them all and got them lynched. To ensure that never happens again he was sent undercover to the town of salem to end the mafia from where it had its headquarters. While he was away a civil war broke out in his country and his property was taken. The goverment was changed and he was no longer welcome back. He stayed at salem and began wondering who should he blame.Over the time he got mad wanting to get revenge and started blaming random residents. One night to satisfy his need to avenge his lost life he went to the towns feared godfathers house. He entered and quckly imobilized then godfather using his hand to hand combat experience. He then saw some movement outside, a lookout was hiding in the bushes. He immidiately shot the lookout with a precise sleeping dart. He needed no witnesses. When he was about to end the job he heard footsteps, he wasnt the only one after the godfather . He left the house to let the local killers take the blame for the murder. A twisted smile grew on his face.

backstory
The observer was very curious even as a child. He would run around all over salem constantly observing every movement and every object. He was able to discover many things about people often anoying them. When he grew up he armed himself with the best binoculars and spy gear in stores and proceeded to discovering the life of everyone in salem even stealing documents from their houses if he had the chance. In the beggining he did it just for the shake of it but as the local mafia grew stronger and was threatening the town, the mayor saw the observers skills as a valuable weapon to discover them. the observer was also concerned about the towns safety so he began stealthily paying attention to peoples homes to determine whether they were goingbto harm the town or not.

backstory
poison, a cowards weapon. The poison expert was just a regular woman but she was easily scared. She wouldnt leave her house at full moon nights because she was afraid of the werewolf and she would always abstain in trials because she didnt want anyone to get mad at her. She even hanged garlic all over her house as soon as she heard about people showing vampire-like symptoms in far away towns. When the mafia and serial killer started killing people she went completly overprotective with herself. Until she decided to take action. She armed herself with different kinds of poisons and a special dart throwing gun and went out to pursue anyone that could potentially harm her and kill him before he has a chance to.

summarise: you are a coward that always switches sides at a battle

Backstory:
The traitor was a famed war hero that was awarded for his courage on the war. What nobody knew though is that he had changed sides in the middle of the war as soon as he saw his troops getting slained by the oponents and realised they were losing this war. That was his way of life, always join the winning side. He would support his allies with all his power but if they were having troubles he would colheartly abandon them. He was only fighting for his life and not the side he wanted to win. After retiring while beeing middle aged to live a quiet life away from conflicts in salem he was called to pick a side once more. The local mafia was openly trying to take over and the townies would never allow that. Seeing they regular citizens had the majority after spending his enire life in the military he joined them but soon he realised things were not that simple as one after another their leaders would be killed . He was in no hurry of dying for this town so he decided to find some better allies. He had noticed that the towns madman was often spraying houses with a weird liquid. he paid him a visit that night ' I am sorry to interupt you but i have noticed your actions. Perhaps you would care that we reach an agreenment? he said .


DIPLOMAT

summarise: you are a falsely accused politician that is now aiming at rulling over salem with the mafia

Backstory : the diplomat was a good speaker that even practiced hard alongside old politicians. As a young man he set on to become the towns mayor as he felt he deserved to be promoted from beeing the child sent for speeches. His honesty passion and logic won him many voters but the mayor got jealous. He used his influence to sabotage him. The diplomat was mad but he co nit used to assist the mayor. Then out of fear the mayor decided the diplomat was too much of a threat so he got him fired and then jailed for life for no reason. The diplomat was sick of the mayor and all the townies that wouldn't help him even though they knew he was innocent. Luckily for him the mafia judged that his abilities could greatly help them so they escorted him out of prison and offered him a place in their ranks. He accepted and set off on a journey to get what he rightfully deserved with his new allies the leadership of the town.


NECROMANCER

summarise: you are a missunderstood mechanicer that makes near alive machines

Abilities: stalk on one person each night

Attributes:
- if that person dies you will make him an imposter
- if someone is made an imposter he will not be shown dead
- you know your imposters role and have acces to his will.

Backstory
the necromancer was a revolutionar inventor ahead of his time. inspired by both natures greatness and the ever improving mechnical capabilities he created all kinds of machinery to help people with their lives. But nobody seemed to care about his effort. if his machines broke or werernt fullfiling enough, people would refuse giving him payment and would humiliate him as a lunatic. Nobody gave him credit even when he created arguably the most usefull of the machines. Eventually he was driven to madness. he wanted to take revenge from all of them. He went to live alone in his inventory where he discovered even more advanced machines. he managed to install them in a dead cat and he was able to move it from a distance. He knew how to take revenge now. All he needed was a bigger set of his machine and some help from the local mafia.

Backstory
The officer was an every day young man who decided he wanted to follow a policemans career. His parents though wouldn't let him because they thought of it as too dangerous. They always dreamed of him following a political career. He had to escape and follow his career in the neighboring town of Salem. He showed devotion to his job and thus quickly skipped the ranks and became an officer. Once he had accomplished that he went back to his hometown to show his parent support how much he has achieved, but he found their house abandoned. He went on to learn they have been killed a few weeks ago by the mafioso. The mafias revenge for him outing so many of their members. After mourning for them for several days he returned to his job. Yet now he was a different man, one that would gladly violate the role of he could take his much wanted revenge.

EDITS
Spoiler: - changed the poison expert drastically to avoid the killing over time part.
- changed the observers ability to read wills so evils wont be forced to have one claim and replaced it with a hint to the roles action so it wouldnt be up
- added a neutral chaos role the traitor. It is kinda Op but it is heavily encouraged to join evils so i think it is OK.
- added a backstory for the traitor and removed the brute as i must admit it was a rather undeveloped idea.
- changed the investigator results to 1.5 ones ( kinda ) and created more loopholes to the observers alignment detection skills

Citizen: Way too OP. "Know name of attacker who killed you". Basically a self-watching Lookout who only sees the person who attacked you, the most important one of the bunch, combined with a nerfed Bodyguard who doesn't kill the attacker.

Brute: Detective + Mafioso + super buffed Jester that can kill 3 guilty voters = This. Just way too OP.

Daggerman: An NK with limited kills, which is bad, combined with a Veteran. Making this way more OP than it needs to be.

Silencer: Basically a Blackmailer that blackmails dead people to where they can't talk at night, combined with a Medium and nerfed Spy. Pure brokenness at its best.

Well ............

citizen: congratulations you know the name of your attacker and you are alive! Your night immunity means you are alive after the first courage use. You have won some serious mindgames with the killers all you have to do now is expose them. Also you are the only night immune town role. And share and investigative result with both the godfather and the werewolf. And you are one of the best claims for exes and even jesters. If you save someone with your courage uses they wont be informed. That should be easy! Sorry for the sarcasm but it isnt easy to prove this role, it is meant to be an easy scum claim.

Brute: well truth is it does share similarities with the mafioso( especially once it becomes one) and i am looking for ways to nerf it(it needs a nerf) but it isnt that op, sheriffs and investigators find you with ease and you can die from nks. If you intimidate a killing role well you are dead and since you cant really kill independently from the godfather town can simply ignore you and turn you into A mafioso. The guilty voter ability isnt so much to buff him butt solve random lynching and make a survivors life easier. Basicly helping the jester. It does need at least 4 nights to be used and since you can only kill one per night you might lose some kills by doctors/ transporters. Lastly what is a detective? When i say alignment i mean only town/ neutral/ mafia.

Daggerman: Well this roles succes is based on making people visit him and unlike a veteran you will not kill or even attack night immune roles. You do have limited offensive kills but unlimited defensive ones. The fact that you tear up your victims will makes sure you arent easy to find. Having limited attacks is not necesarily bad as you will not lose them for nothing and you will kill people either way.

Silencer: Not a blackmailer for the dead AS THEY WILL SAY ANYTHING THEY WISH, the real diference is that not everyone will hear them. It can also hear whispers which gives it the buff it needs so that it wont be as useless as a medium( it is based on a mafia medium counterpart), make spys not easily confirmable and stop or at least deter mayor games something that a lot of people want.


I cannot deny that all of these roles need fixing thats why i consistenly ask for suggestions as i realise i cant possibly make a complete and balanched role myself.

I have added achievements and a new role! the brainwasher. Its original name was hypnotist but i saw another post with that name so i changed it, and well i just saw a brainwasher post.You know what ill just leave it as it is for now. I will add a backstory soon. be sure to post with ideas for him as well as it is in an early stage. the werewolf immunity is for not full moon nights. I may delete the get attacked if you brainwashed these roles in the future and replace it with immunes. Make sure to to post wether you think this should/ shoudnt happen.

I added the avenger. I putted it as a neutral benign because it can win with everyone and it can harm everyone. Having your target converted will also count as a win. Maybe it could fit to neutral chaos if the correct definition for it is a role that cant be fitted in the other neutral alignments but since we only have one role of this kind, anything could be possible so i dont want to hurry and put it in there until we receive another neutral chaos role so we can see what fits this alignment. Maybe it will have the problem of a kingmaker but since most avengers would want to wait until late game to disarm due to the low usages i think it should be alright. Probably an enemy for the town but it could also help town by getting rid of night immunities for the vigilante so i dont think it should be neutral evil. Let me know what you think and what would you suggest for the avenger and the other roles suggested so we can balanche them.

i just added a new role the observer. Overall a simple alignment detector with the added buff of detecting visits and occasionally looking at wills. He will be able to see only mafia/neutral/town not the subalignments.

I have just added a new role the poison expert. I have been thinking about it for a long time and since today was the day i would rename the brainwasher into hypnotist i thought i would add that in there as well. The original target will survive if he is night immune but the infected will not. Be sure to tell me your opinions on this role too.



CHANGES I AM CONSIDERING:
1 remove the bodygaurd from the investigative results of the citizen DONE. ( also changed hypnotist results )
2 add another vest to the avenger ( you would probably want to wait untill late game so another vest would help )
3 make the daggerman lose his turn if a witch controlls him to attack himself
4 make some roles immune to beeing infected by the poison expert
5 add the amnesiac in the observers results

tell me what you think of these changes or any new one you would suggest

Guess you are right phoenix ill just do that from now on. Also:

Hypnotist: i mean yeah if you have to compare it to an existing role its a overbuffed blackmailer. Thing is it doesnt have confirmed allies, its neutral so unlike the blackmailer you have no team support and you will probably get killed by your allies ( witch style ). It is powerfull enough to stand on its own though and a usefull trump card for all evils. It provides more coverage for them and can really disordinate the town ( much like vamps ). Effectively it adds a whole new dimention to the game, making trusting someone harder than ever before and it can claim roles that usually are out of suspicion ( the new invest results help with that ). I must say it may be overwhelming for town ( especially if i remove the "will get attacked if you try to hypnotise" roles something that i am considering ) so it should get a nerf. Maybe you will know the name of the one who brainwashed you, maybe you will be able to vote/ use your night ability.

avenger: if he were to have more chances to win it would effectively break the game. All you need is for someone to attack your target and he is dead. Nothing can save him, not night immunity, not protectives, not anything ( except op jailor that is ). This means naturally you would need to survive untill the late game and then disarm someone which shouldnt be that hard. you have very nice investigative results and 1 ( soon 2 ) vests to help you with that. While it may seem as if it is a very powerfull neutral evil role it can make vigilante the real deal ( lets face it he is kinda not as usefull as the other tk roles right now ) so it is a neutral benign role. Just wanted to make that clear.


observer: well ok it does partly faction as a reverse lookout ( that sure is op ) but thats really not what this role would be trying to do. Its main treat is its aligbment detection abilities and the reverse lookout trait only funtcions as a little extra to the will reading that is the second main thing of this role. The alignment detection does have some flaws, and more may be added in the future, that prevent it form beeing too powerfull. I must admit though that this role would probably need some changes if it was to actually work in a TOS game.

poison expert: i have read this post but i didnt pay attention to the infector back then. These roles should really not be made ( i think arso is kinda like the infector but anyway). That is nothing some serious tweaking cant fix though. That may take a while but it could make the poison expert a role that doesnt fall in this category without completely scraping it.


Lastly windBlqde could you please mention which part you disaggree with ( if its only a part ) and why is that like phoenix and mace have done? sure saying no plainly saves some time but it doesnt help to make the roles better and it really isnt much of an opinion if there is no reason to back it up.

Okay so just changed the investigator results to 1.5 ones but as you see I created many alternatives because a lot of them were hard to fit in. Should I try to alter the results so they fit better or do you have any ideas about where they should be in?

So I had two things in mind but I am not sure if I should add them so I would like some feedback.
1. Have the avenger be able to disarm every role in the game since if he can disarm arsonist no reason to protect the other two.
2 have the avenger able to jailbreak his target out rendering the jailor unable to execute and the target vulnerable. This is for him not to lose his precious disarmings and to slightly nerf the jailor

Ok so first I like how the observer plays the opposite lookout role cause I played a game as lookout when I didn't got anything for like 5 nights and then died so this role seem to the idea how to buff lookout correctly
About the slinceer I mostly like that he can still talk with mafia after dead and plays the idea of mafia medium cause I usually confirm myself very easily as medium by fast copy past to the jailor /town what dead how wrote, however he shouldn't be bite immunity as any mafia now with the new patch

Just when I thought I was out of ideas...

Anyway I just made a new neutral evil role called necromancer ( no it's not a neutral retributonist ) so I had to reset the poll. I am unsure whether an imposter should be seen by the sheriff so I would like some feedback on that.
