I know ToS has a wide range of roles, and they're very very fun, but does anyone wish there could be a very simple online version of mafia?
I dunno if you've played mafia in real life, but I notice that generally when mafia's played at parties in real life, there's very rarely all these roles. Even with large crowds, the most I've seen is about 4 roles, being:
-mafia members (not distinct roles, just a bunch that decide on 1 person to kill)
-town members (can't do anything except vote)
-doctor (can choose 1 person to heal at night)
-investigator (can point at 1 person and be told if it's mafia or not)
-jester (included in some party games - someone who wants to be lynched)
Usually in real life there's a narrator who's impartial and tells everyone to "go to sleep" (eveyrone closes their eyes) and says "mafia heads up" (mafia wakes up and points to someone to kill) "doc heads up and choose someone to heal" "inves choose someone to inves" and then "everyone wake up"
I find this is fun in real life and from watching other people play because:
-the investigator has to convince everyone that they're really inves and not mafia lying about being inves
-heads up if real mafia is lying about being inves and inves has found maf and maf is like "of course u say im sus, if im town countering inves, and u're claiming inves then u cant be and ur maf, so u must make me seem like maf otherwise ur sus"
-maf not killing anyone intentionally and confusing town out the next day
-people doing a gasp when a lynched person is revealed to either be town/maf and ppl being "BUT U VOTED FOR THEM, U MUST BE MAF" etc
-jester being jester, but also maf being jester and town divided
like. ToS is really fun, but does anyone miss the simplicity and dynamics of in-person maf and wish ToS just had a simplistic 4 role maf sometimes? Bringing it back to the roots or is it just me?
