I just finished reading this thread. I'm surprised only one person suggested the final skin was Giles Corey. I thought it was obvious. The staff he holds might be some holdable object. I have a vague memory of some dev saying they were looking into adding holdable items as a new kind of cosmetics. I'm also surprised most people don't think it's going to be the graphic update they mentioned years ago. I was sure of it before reading the thread.

To be honest I don't really like the idea of new roles being added. I think the game is already pretty complicated and there's no need to complicate it even more, especially considering all its balance problems. Before new roles, I think there are more important changes to be made like improving custom (a lot), adding the reconnect button and the leaver buster system, nerfing VH, adding private lobbies and maybe implementing some other balance changes.

I won't be dissapointed if this turns out to be a graphical update, since I'm not expecting much from the devs anyway. I must admit, I like the new skins and the game always looked kinda weird to me since the unity update. Avatars seem to have low resolutions or something, and endgame screens are ugly. But it all depends of wheter my favorite skin (guess which one it is) looks good, and wheter they fix their death animation or not.

Now that I read this thread I think it's likely that they release a new game, maybe an Among us clone, which is sad since it will mean signing ToS's death certificate. On the other side, I'm not completely sure the new game is an Among us clone, since the game got popular last year and I don't think they can develop a clone so quickly.

Custom settings and private lobbies are all things that should've been done 6-7 years ago but didn't, maybe in part of kickstarter, but regardless I don't see them happening.

That's a shame, I guess I'll never be able to play just with my friends. I can still have hope, though.
If this update turns out to be a new game, which seems likely, then I guess I'll have to give up. If this is how they treat this game when it's their top priority, I can't imagine how it will be when it becomes low priority.

New prediction: Today's reveal is gonna be the Hex Master

It looks like it has some sort of staff, which means that it's probably a Coven role. The ones we have left are Poisoner, Hex Master, Medusa, and Necromancer. It's certainly not Medusa. I think a Poisoner would have weird test tubes and potions and stuff. It could be Necromancer, but the current HM skin has a funny hat similar to this one. So HM is the most likely.

The Town of Salem was in a conflict that lasted nearly a decade in which countless souls were lost. The innocents of the Town banded together and banished the Necronomicon, and the power the book held over the minds of the townsfolk was erased.

An era of uneasy peace began. But, the darkness could not be sealed forever. Once again, dark magic threatens to send Salem into chaos.

Use your wits and abilities to find the Traitors who are possessed and hold trials to decide their fate. Or, become a Traitor and unleash your inner evil upon the innocents.

What is Traitors in Salem?
Traitors In Salem will be the next evolution in the Salem Universe, taking everything you love about Town of Salem and improving it.

Control your favorite characters such as the Pilgrim, Witch, Werewolf, and more to explore Salem. Characters are randomly assigned a role at the beginning of a game. Use your role to investigate, silence, or kill to achieve your goals. Dozens of roles, many classic Town of Salem roles along with many brand new roles, will be available to play.

What's different?
For Traitors In Salem, we made a commitment to make improvements to game design, roles, and interactivity.

Unlike Town of Salem, you will be able to move your character around the game as you wish. You will interact with the environment and other players as you run around the world.


Some of the improvements include:

Only Two Factions - Town versus Traitors
The Neutral roles that will be coming over from Town of Salem such as the Executioner, Jester, and some Neutral Killers will be joining the Traitor faction. This will mean that there is no neutral killing faction creating 1v1v1 stalemates. The Mafia faction has gone back to Italy and will not be appearing in Salem this time.

No More King Makers
Roles such as Survivor and Executioner could sometimes be the deciding vote in a 1v1v1 scenario in which their vote decides who wins. King Maker positions oftentimes led to un-fun game outcomes. With all non-town roles joining the Traitor faction, these situations are no longer possible.

Planned Chaos Modes
Our new freedom of movement will allow us to create brand new Chaos Game Modes that would have been impossible in Town of Salem. We are testing and prototyping ideas for Capture the Flag, Cops and Robbers along with other Game Modes, and will reveal more information on our ongoing development of these in the future.


Traitors In Salem is scheduled to begin alpha testing before the end of summer 2021!
