The Executioner and the Jester

Alright, well, I wasn’t going to write this because I fucked up and didn’t enter my name in time, so I got a default name, which for me tends to ruin the entire aesthetic of a planned evil in All Any, unless I’m deliberately using a default name setup. I smoked some weed earlier though and I was thinking a bit about it, and it occurred to me it was a rather strange sequence of events, which I’d rather like to detail here. So I will write another trivial story about this surreal murderous realm now, and you’ll get another glimpse into another obscure debacle. There are many obscure debacles in the cosmos, but this was one I found rather comical. As you may know I am fond of executioner, and I am on a bit of a quest in this obscure realm to lynch my target, survive until the end, and orchestrate an evil win, generally. I still enjoy serial killer and even witch more sometimes, especially witch’s ability to identify, control, and manipulate others, even blackmail them using your knowledge of their evil ways. Executioner is a bit more in the dark about the leanings of the town, and is thus a bit more difficult to figure out roles as.

D1/N1: I mistakenly have a default name, John Hathorne. It was going to be Mazarfel, or some demonic name, but the shit lagged or whatever. My target is John Willard. Some people speak, whatever. I make my fake wills. I am determined to wait until D3 so I can make a smooth play.

D2/N2: The player chikim is cleaned. My target whispers Prussia at the start of the day. I am tempted to call them out as a suspicious whisperer, but I decide to stay quiet. They push the person they whispered for a role. Prussia whispers them back. At the end of the day, after no one is voted up, my target asks something along the lines of… Can there be two vigilantes? Of course there can, but in any case your comment has now seemed to make it obvious that you’re investigator and your target was found as vigilante/veteran/mafioso. I say to myself that I hope they don’t kill my target tonight. There is naturally the fear of a werewolf tonight, or something crazier like an arsonist, or being jailed or randomly attacked. I am not attacked, though.

D3/N3: If I remember correctly, a forger is killed by a vigilante. No one seems to claim they shot them. There is some discussion, whatever, then…

John Hathorne: I’m a vigi as well
John Hathorne: Vigilante Log N1: No gun yet N2: John Willard (immune)

I continue that they were immune, and that I couldn’t kill them, suggesting before they’re voted that they could be godfather or arsonist. They’re voted and they post an investigator will, with one target as escort/transporter/consort and one as jailed last night. The lynch goes through and they hang. Rather than make my usual exe claim, I ask whether they were transported, implying I actually attacked them and my target survived my bullet, so they may have been swapped. And someone suggests they might have been healed. It seemed Mary Warren join in the lynch a bit, might have said something like he could be godfather.

D4/N4: I am attacked in the night. A veteran, a janitor, and a mafioso are dead, two of them burned by an arsonist. At the start of the day, a chaotic discussion ensues. A vigilante claim says they shot me and that I’m arsonist and I simultaneously claim I’m executioner and I was attacked by mafia last night so I’ll side against the mafia. I think Mary Warren also claimed exe. I am not certain I was attacked by mafia, though I suspect it. I decide to take advantage of uncertainty and I claim Kankerneger must be mafia who attacked me. He gets pushed to trial as he and a D1 survivor claim DjSpicyWiener vote against me and he claims he shot me, but he gets guiltied. I think before nightfall I ask the arsonist not to douse me, as I’m executioner. His role is revealed as vigilante and I think I wasn’t jailed yet.

D5/N5: A spy is dead, and the survivor claim decides to call me out or something. (The spy may have been shot by a vigilante, who claimed they were dying tonight.) I call them out as sus and say that if you’re really survivor, you shouldn’t be voting against people like me, you would be neutral like Blur, the other D1 survivor claim. Blur explicitly stated his neutrality more than once. I cast suspicion that the survivor claim is the arsonist. Anyway this DjSpicyWiener guy was voted too and lynched, and he was survivor. I think I was finally jailed around this point.

Approximate dialogue between myself and the jailor:

Jailor: Prove role or die.
John Hathorne: Hello
The jailor has decided to execute you.
John Hathorne: I’m mayor
John Hathorne: I always fake claim exe
John Hathorne: I can reveal
John Hathorne: Stop
The jailor has changed their mind.
John Hathorne: Let me reveal

D6/N6: A vigilante is dead, and I think the transporter is incinerated by an arsonist as well. If the transporter didn’t get incinerated last night, they were definitely burned by D7, and no one was lynched after the survivor before the transporter’s death. Now, it’s the four of us: John Hathorne, Mary Warren, Mary Johnson, and Blur. The jailor is still alive. I immediately realize one of them is arsonist and one is jailor, and I have 2v2 with the arsonist today and I can possibly manipulate the third into voting the jailor, but I don’t know who the jailor is. Since Blur claimed survivor and Mary Warren claimed executioner, I deduce Mary Johnson is probably the jailor, since they’re a non-claimer. I whisper around a bit. Johnson publicly claims lookout now and suggests we role call or something along those lines. So we have the executioner/vigilante/mayor claim, the survivor claim, the executioner claim, and the lookout claim. I think Mary Warren denied being executioner at some point. I whisper around sinisterly and tell the others Mary Johnson is jailor and I probe their willingness to lynch them, and we have our little private exchanges. I claim Mary Johnson claimed arsonist to me and I vote against them, then I claim Mary Warren claimed arsonist to me and I vote against them instead. No one is voted to trial.

D7/N7: It’s still us four here. I clarify yesterday that I got the Marys mixed up, and that I meant to say Mary Warren claimed arsonist to me. We have our conversation and I then decide I don’t know who the Hell the arsonist is and who the Hell the jailor is. I mention something along these lines… Who the fuck is the arsonist? I really don’t know who the fuck the arsonist is right now. Blur claimed survivor D1, Mary Johnson claimed lookout and says they saw the vigilante visit me (an easily faked will), and Mary Warren seemed to claim executioner and has been moderately sus. They’re all sus by this point. In a psychopathic frenzy, I try to get Mary Johnson and Blur to lynch Mary Warren, because I suspect Mary Warren is jailor faking executioner. While Johnson and Blur vote against me, Mary Warren refuses to vote. Now, I’m jailed a second time and the jailor has had enough of my evil schemes.

Approximate dialogue between myself and the jailor:

Jailor: Prove role or die.
John Hathorne: lol
The jailor has decided to execute you.
Jailor: You have to die
John Hathorne: I’m retributionist
You were executed by the Jailor!
You have died!

DjSpicyWiener: John is so sus
John Hathorne: No shit I’m sus, I’m executioner

D8/N8: I am dead. It’s now Mary Warren, Mary Johnson, and Blur. Mary Johnson suggests we should know who the jailor is now, or something like that. Mary Warren claims arsonist. I suspect for a moment this could actually be arsonist, but there were some whispers and this is clearly a possible jester play. Mary Johnson votes against Warren and, despite later admitting to having Warren jailed the night of the first arsonist ignite, Blur also votes Warren to trial. Mary Warren is guiltied and, seeing their doom, Mary Johnson asks the jester to haunt Blur, as Blur will execute Johnson tonight. Thus the jester is finally lynched and the jailor jails the arsonist. I, naturally, request the jester haunt the jailor, as that will make the game an executioner/jester win. They gladly oblige, and… Mary Johnson the arsonist is executed by the jailor and Blur the jailor is haunted by the jester.

So that was that. I still didn’t like having the default name, but given how sus my names usually are, this name might have been the reason I lived so long. At any rate, an exe/jester win is a rather rare win screen, so that was enjoyable, and the executioner’s curse made another appearance, albeit at a very late juncture. Obviously, whatever its significance, the vigilante, the survivor, the arsonist, and the jailor all voted against me at some point and they all died, while the jester and I, well… We died too, but we were evil, and our breed of evil is satisfied even in death. I suspected I would die much earlier than I did, but although I would have liked to live, I rather like the way this town turned out…

Solo Jester wins, although still uncommon, aren't super rare from my experience. All that really needs to happen is for a Jester to survive until the final 3 players, and then with the ol' "Vote me for Jester roulette or I vote you" tactic, they'll usually get hanged. I mean, if it's 1 Mafia/NK vs 1 townie, the killer will usually still go for the townie (unless they can't due to non-moon etc) . This will often result in either the Jester purposely killing the killer to see the rarer Jester win-screen, or them letting it random, giving a 50/50 chance of the Jester win-screen.

It's definitely uncommon, but the Jester's mechanics make it far easier for the necessary wipeout to take place. This is why you almost never see solo Executioner or solo WItch screens: the circumstances needed to set up the wipeout are far more specific than the requirements the Jester needs.
Just some Sheriff who didn't claim until Day 5, and has no leads whatsoever

No need to be alarmed...
