So I'm a necromancer, and I'd like to send a vampire to convert a player.
On N4 I reanimate a dead vampire (12) and send it to the mayor (8). See: https://i.gyazo.com/78583070d4afa0bff4c ... f6f522.png
However, on D5 I get hanged and see the mayor hasn't been converted (based on the lynch votes cast). I also confirm this as late as D8, where the mayor still has his 3 votes, and uses them to vote guilty on a vampire.
Through all this, I come to find that a bodyguard (6) was protecting the mayor on N4. When he died, he showed as a vampire, so to ensure he really was protecting the mayor on N4, I asked him when he was bitten. He claimed N6 (see: https://i.gyazo.com/464b43ef8b18d3c5c89 ... b5613c.png ). He also never claimed attacked, or that anything happened while he was protecting the mayor on N4 - indicating that my vampire reanimation took no effect.
On N4, there was nobody else alive who could have affected the bite (no CL's/trans's/esc's messing about, no docs on 8, 8 wasn't jailed, etc.), so now I'm stumped. Why didn't the mayor get converted?
According to the wiki ( https://town-of-salem.fandom.com/wiki/N ... rent_roles ), a reanimated vampire should have had some effect in this scenario. At minimum, the bodyguard should have died protecting the mayor, as though the vampire bite were coming from a live, youngest vampire. But maybe there's some weird interaction, and instead the bodyguard is irrelevant, in which case the mayor should have been plain bitten.
I also looked through old bug reports and patch notes to see if this was mentioned, but I couldn't find anything related. Am I missing something?
I can also attest to a similar occurrence a few days ago, where I (a necromancer) sent a reanimated vampire to bite someone (a crusader) who didn't get converted (and in that case, had no protection at all). I'm only posting now because I can confirm it wasn't a fluke.
So, is this intended behavior?
