“Hah. You can’t just. Build a Doctor. Well you may be able to. But would it have the same empathy as a human being? Or the years of medical experience? Or the same desire to truly help? Would it be alive? Or would it be an object of some sort or a tool? What exactly is this invention you’re thinking? Would it perhaps be something that might become a great aid to doctors rather than a replacement? Because I’m not sure if I believe that a doctor can just be replaced. You’d certainly get a lot of push back from the sheer notion of it, as you are with this gentleman. But, working together on something so radical may in fact be able to help the both of you. The good Doctor may be able to have aid and assistance and the inventor may be able to gain important medical insight that will help in the creation and refining of his invention.”

And Doctor... err. Doctor, I’m not sure how advanced medical science is. But wouldn’t speeding up it’s progress ultimately help more people? And surely, as a doctor, helping people is your goal. So why would something aiding in medical progress be a bad thing? There’s no guarantee it’d work, yes, but there’s no guarantee many things in life, even medical procedures I presume, would work. So ultimately what’s the harm in trying?”

The annoying little shit reels quite a bit from the punch. It knocks the stupid smug grin off his face for a few moments and he starts wringing his hands on the handle of his whip, tense and agitated. “Huh. Well that hurts. And I don’t think it explains anything regarding alchemy to me. You’re very angry about having your profession questioned on the most basic level, very insecure. That’s no good at all. I just think you two should try to find a middle ground. You’re both men of some sort of science, and sciences are always progressing. Maybe stop being such uppity cunts and work together. You could potentially do great things. Or horrible things. But you’ll never know if you don’t try.” Raising his voice in a lilting manner, he saunters off across the cargo hold, continuing his search for krakens, and trying to not get punched again.
