And Why would I not choose myself when my role can be changed by other Roles ?

Cause roles that changes roles are 100% town and they would tell at some point they changed your role.
(mostly screw you over if you get swapped with an Evil)

Trapper checking vet: 100% will claim.
Transport changing you with X: most likely will it claim, if you claimed town this chance will increase.
Retri giving you any role: 100% will claim. (even if you get an evil role.)

Unless there are some contradiction with these three roles, you will never gain/give any info with a self check.

You checking yourself as vet has literally no meaning (even if you got changed, you don't know who and how changed you)
And because you will throw it away anyway it has no meaning which role you had at the point of the check.

There is one problem
You have to discard your card if you check yourself.
It is not a question of choice.
But you have 33% chance to take an evil role if you see yourself as vet. (a bit more but amne remembering mafia which was taken by a Retri is so situational it has a neglectable chance of happening)

And 33% is not random.
You know that you were vet at the start of the game.
If you see yourself as vet, you most likely was not tampered. You are last in order. So no one even will. (there are situations were double changing give you back vet, but that still increase the chance you get an evil card)

There are 9 other roles in the game 3 of them are have completely different wincon as vet, and need to play completely different, cause there is a chance no one ever tell you which role you have, and you lose the game for yourself.

That would mean you have Jester/GF in this kind of scenario. Which both of them are not town. And these two especially need totally different gameplay than town members.

If he was amnesiac that went to BRVR, wouldn't it have been extremely easy for him to claim amnesiac to have went to someone else? Or claim that he went to BRVR and he wasn't mafia? Why would he take the risk of someone counterclaiming him when he had an easy claim handed right to him?
