Psychic needs to go

This has probably been beaten to death, but Psychic ruins coven. D2 psychic says 3 names and town VFR those three and hangs one. It's way too op, ruins the game. VFR sucks. VFR when you know one is evil sucks balls. This role encourages VFR which should be considered cheating.

This role needs to be drastically changed or just removed.

While Psychic is OP, VFR is not bad. A lack of claimspace is the problem with VFR. I do agree that Psychic needs to go though, it's completely luck-based.

Agreed. RNG cannot be controlled, and when a role uses RNG, the only way to fix it is to either scrap the role or to give it a complete rework; giving it a buff or nerf will just make it worse. What makes RNG such a problem is that it is both OP and UP at the same time; RNG concepts aren't tangible, and the only way to fix the issue is to remove the RNG altogether.

The Psychic seems to be more OP than UP, but as we've already seen, giving it a nerf or two will not suffice.

In one game of mine, I was playing as a Coven, and the Psychic announced three players that could be evil. Since I was a Coven, I knew that all of those 3 players were Covens (N1 he got the message that either Coven 1, Coven 2, or Coven 3 was evil). Of course, the Psychic didn't know that all of us were evil, but due to lack of claimspace in the Coven game-modes, after we were all VFR'd, all of us were lynched...

In some games, however, the Psychic does absolutely nothing and just stays in the background of the game until it dies... Roles like these can cause nothing but harm, and they need to go away ASAP, or else ToS will become more unbalanced than it already is.

As for the VFR issues, I actually don't think that VFR is all that bad. The problem with Psychic is that you are VFRing people knowing that at least one of them must be evil.

I never liked VFR, but it's not bad when it's random. Though i love it when i am evil at the end of a clockwise VFR

Yeah faking psychic is the lulz. Get used to having fake credible wills written. VFR is part of the game and so is bluffing. Learn to be prepared and profit.

This excuse never made sense to me. The only way for someone not to CC your psychic fake claim is if they "somehow" got attacked by a medusa. But that's pretty much impossible considering there's no witch in the coven expansion

Let's be honest. When was the last time you claimed RT as scum when the RT was still alive.

Even if you claim RT, town will still lynch you and the other psychic just in case.

Don't play on terrible role lists. Don't use terrible role lists for balance purposes.

If a role list has less than roughly four RTs, I feel it's inherently worthless and any balance concerns stemming from it are completely invalid. Obviously people can't fakeclaim anything in a role list like that; it's the kind of boring setting useful for the first few games where you're just learning what all the roles do, but worthless for anything else because of how it forces games to play out more or less the same way over and over and because of its overwhelming bias towards Town.

(And yes, I know this dismisses Ranked. Ranked is terrible and I'm tired of people pretending its role list is salvageable.)

What I dislike about psychic is that there's no skill involved behind that role. You can just choose 3 people as any town role, vote them up and scumread from there, the difference is that psychic ensures you that at least one of them is evil, so low skilled towns are tempted to risk the 1/3 chance instead of using their heads and scumreading.

The 5 evils do not need to be outed by day 3, as then the Psychic has a maximum of 4 evil names received, which is unlikely though.
