I love this game but it's so sad to me to be here now when a few years ago the Role Ideas forum was bustling and FM was still running constantly. Alex is doing great bringing some life back into the Role Ideas section but everything else is pretty much dead.
I hate the excuses people make for BMG. "They're small If you dont like it let's see you do it better." Like, no that's not the point. It's so clear they don't want to work on this game anymore. It's NOT HARD to rework roles or role-lists. It's NOT HARD to add new roles. It's NOT HARD to advertise for this game. I don't think it would be hard at all for them to do balance updates/bug fixes monthly or every two months with a few cosmetics thrown in there, it's really not that complicated and yet people defend them blindly no matter how much they neglect the game.
I love this game and I have no doubt that they already plan on letting it die in favor of this new game. I wish they would put more effort into this game and advertising to bring the player base back...

Sorry I just have to reply to this.
This exact mindset is why TOS thrived during F2P.
Don't worry, you're not wrong. I just really want to highlight that this is a consistent opinion.

The only reason I bought the steam version recently despite being grandfathered in with my account is because my game suddenly started crashing at random times, usually after one or two nights in game. I posted this issue as a bug report, and considering it made the game unplayable for me you think someone would care to respond but not a word. If I didn't enjoy this game so much that would've been it

I would assume because one should use common sense in thinking that with a patch released a month ago, that of course they wouldn't shut down Town of Salem's server just because a game is being released this year, as with any other gaming company, indie or non. However with growing concern, they'd need to address that no, it won't shut down, so it's done in it's own separate passing comment.
EDIT: If necessary, I'll at some point make a FAQ saying "no, they won't shut the servers down" however it seems too little to actually make a FAQ at this time.

Smart move, thinking that it's not actually a common question that hey, what will happen to this game since there's a new one coming out.
Listen, it's already necessary, and it was from the moment it was revealed to be a new game.
And as much as I want to be nice, your comment comes off as you thinking you're hot shit as if I didn't have to go into a forum and scroll back a bit for that information.
At bare minimum, the question should have been answered when people asked the question in "Ask Questions".
So please, if you'd kindly make the much needed information available to everybody.
EDIT: I see the question was answered by you a couple hours after the fact, and roughly when you made your comment here.
Obviously you need to work on your hostility, considering it's already a commonly asked question and has been since the second it released and people found out about it. And for future reference, any info that a dev makes available in a subforum, do the community a solid and make it easier to access for everybody else. Nobody should have to dig to find, hey maybe this game isn't dying or other information such as that.

This here is likely why the Developers haven't commented on this thread, or any other similar; unnecessary hostility that wasn't already here to begin with.
I wasn't hostile at all. I made a comment, an observation. However you take that is your prerogative, not mine.
We know nothing about the current state of affairs of what will happen for ToS or for TiS, we're in the dark like everyone else until they release said information. The information about whether Town of Salem would stay up was revealed last night by a Developer. If you have questions, ask the Developers directly, but without this unnecessary hostility if you'd like an answer. Otherwise you're going to end up screaming into the void as you have been.
Cheers.
