Combatting Gamethrowers

Postby ak521 » Wed May 13, 2020 7:46 pm

Hey,

A few days ago I was playing as mafia and the jailor decided to execute revealed mayor on his free will for no reason at all.

I'd like to ask that BMG remove the option for Jailor to execute revealed mayor OR resurrected townie.

If witch controls the jailor into executing them, Jailor will proceed with execution (if he still has any), but this is easy gamethrow prevention :)

Counterargument

Killing a thrower is not throwing
Jailor needs to have that option in case the Mayor/Revived player starts to throw, especially since those roles tend to be pretty powerful
Also it would mess up Town Traitor and Vampire games where the Mayor/Revived could have been converted

Yeah, the main problem with that is vampires. If you bite a revealed mayor or a revived player and the jailor jails them, either they will have no way to kill what is now an evil role, or they will basically be told that they are a vampire. When a jailor executes a revealed mayor when it is clear that there are no vampires and the person executed wasn't throwing or anything, you should just report the jailor when you figure out who they are.

If you kill a revealed mayor, you are gamethrowing. Doesn't matter how they play.

This would apply only to ranked.

The rules literally say otherwise, mate:
'
"*EXCEPTION: It is acceptable to kill a confirmed town that is blatantly siding against town, if it is in the best interest of the town or if there is a possibility they were turned into a vampire (only applicable if vampires are possible in the game mode)."

This would apply only to ranked.
No, it probably wouldn't, because that would mean the same role functions differently in two different modes. This pretty much never happens.

There are circumstances where it is reasonable to execute a revealed Mayor or a revived townie, therefore this should not be added.
