I never get into a ranked game

I get unbalanced queue message like 5 times in a row before giving up (for coven ranked)
the worst part is I have to stare at that stupid countdown, because if I do something else in another tab, I won't notice the game starting

Coven Ranked is pretty dead. Not enough people are playing Ranked for you to get into a game unless you join a dedicated group and align your playtimes with them.

Yea, make friends and join parties.
Altho last time I had 15 players in a party and we all queued for ranked, 2 of them got matched in classic ranked.... spent over an hour trying to match and it never happened :/

Ranked was kinda designed to prevent parties from joining the same game together.

it should at least tell me that there are no players then instead of telling me "you probably get into a game after waiting another 3 minutes"

yeah having a counter showing how many others are currently in queue for a small game like this seems common sense.
