About custom limits...

( + are common questions that opposes my suggestion )
( - addresses why that isn't true )

1. Why are there limits for 6 of the same role? Remove of the role limit.
+ merit point farm?
- Merit Points are currently given out accordingly to the match's time (for custom), So if there were a game of 13 executioners, 1 sk, and 1 medium and the game ended the next day, winners would receive 4 merit points and losers would receive 2 merit points. Plus most people wouldn't want to do merit point farms since they're not fun.
+ unbalanced?
- You can still make a balanced game with 6+ of the same roles... but nevertheless, custom is usually unbalanced anyway.

2. Remove limit on mafia and vampires
+ 5 or more mafia is overpowered
- depending on the other roles, it may be or may not. And as stated above, custom is usually unbalanced.

I can see 5 mafia and 15 town being nicely balanced.

3. There shouldn't have to be a killing role
+ Then how would the evils eliminate one another?
- By lynching.

But because of this, evils should win if they are one of the last two left
(Also off topic but it would be great if witch could win without vigilante alive and when they are one of the last two left)

4. Mafia should not require a killing role
As stated above, lynching can be used to kill the town.

5. (Probably a bug) on mobile, the role list always requires a mafioso or godfather, even if there's already an NK or vampire (which meets the requirements of "having a killing role that opposes the town")

I think these limits were put in place for the sake of All Any, and they just... incidentally apply to Custom.

I would be in favor of the explicit Custom rolelist being able to override the restrictions on random roles, though.

Note that the "mafia must have a killer" requirement is a property of mafia roles (if there isn't a Mafia Killing, one of them automatically becomes Mafioso), and the 4-vampire limit is a property of the Vampire role (they can't convert while they have 4 members), so to some extent those particular restrictions are unavoidable.

To Brilliand's point, I understand why mafia needs a killing role, but the 4-vampire rule is arbitrary and could easily be removed in a custom game. If the host wants vamps to be able to keep biting townies until the entire town is vampires, why not?

That’s not true. These limits don’t apply to AA. You can get games that end on D2 because there are no evils.

I assume he just meant the rules about mafia needing a killing role, 4 vamps, 6 of the same role, etc. I did have an all-any game like that as executioner and it really sucked.

It can get worse.

I once had an all any game where I was veteran and it just so happened that all 14 other players were serial killers
I didnt alert n1 and got stabbed 3 times and then the game ended.

If you don't have some limits you're going to get a lobby full of people that have no idea how the game works and they're just gonna repick until the host puts 14 jesters and a mayor and then the game is utter garbage. Honestly custom lists are generally not fun (imo) cause I like actually balanced lists, just not necessarily the same ranked lineup every time. But if you remove all limits you're going off the deep end and drive away lots of players.

This is similar to these two suggestions:

The bests solution would be as follows:

1. Abolish repicking.
2. Allow people to view all open custom lobbies and join one of their choice or make one.
3. Allow custom hosts as much freedom as possible in setting up their games. Basically any suggestion should be implemented unless the required coding is too complicated.
