Tie Breaker Needs Editing

Postby SeerSword » Fri Jun 21, 2019 11:00 am

First off I'd like to say I love the new tie breaker system that speeds up victories, it's far better than having to wait a day or two for the game to finally end.

That said, I've noticed it's a bit clunky when it comes to 2 people left. I will give two examples I've witnessed.

Game is nearly over, there is the mafioso and the jailor left. The jailor has an execute left (and even if they didn't could have pushed a draw) but the mafia automatically won.

Another example. I was mafia, we'd just hung Pestilence and an escort who would continuously roleblock me was left. This would have ended in a draw. I automatically won this because there were two people left.

I get that it is very difficult to account for every scenario, especially accounting for coven roles. However certain roles like Mayor, Jailor and Escort should have their actions factored into this system.

First case: Jailor vs Mafioso ONLY ends in Mafioso win if the Jailor has no executes left.

Second case: Escort vs. Mafioso leads to a Mafia win because Stalemate generally favors smaller factions in a stalemate situation.

The whole intention of the stalemate detector is to not let the game draw.

P.S. The stalemate detector isn't new, it's been here for years. :D

Town winrate is higher (sometimes absurdly higher if there was a ret). If it comes to those scenarios, mafia should get the win, in my opinion. Town has it good enough as it is.

Speaking strictly on Ranked, classic terms.

Huh. A lot of the time it seemed like game was forced to play out in the past, maybe it's just different scenarios or I was missing something. Anyway, thank you for the clarification! I completely understand the desire to avoid draws.

Yeah, different scenarios. Most killer vs. town scenarios are forced to play out, because the killer doesn't need any help to win that matchup.
