I mean theres a lot they could do to make the game more profitable.... After Unity, they could release new content, but only make the new content available to coven owners, that would drive up a few sales for the DLC.
They could nerf retri in ranked, but only in Coven Ranked.. how many people would buy the DLC just for that? It would also boost numbers in Coven Ranked..2 stones, 1 bird....
Theres plenty of other options available for them, without making the DLC free XD
You also make some very good points and I agree with one in particular. Create a "content pass" that costs a bit more but gives you access to new content as it comes out or access to beta testing new content or anything.
