I have tested this on a G PAD 7 with lolipop with the LG skin
the keyboard on LG does not allow you to send messages in TOS, as in the enter button does not change to a send button which means you can't talk in-game
I'm not sure if its something you overlooked or if my LG devices are really that stupid

I have found this to be an issue only with specific keyboards. On my device, google keyboard also can't send messages, but the stock Samsung keyboard seems to be working fine. Try downloading a different keyboard app from the play store and it should probably work.
