Keeper of the Balance
"Order and Chaos are but two sides of the same coin"

Victory Condition: Ensure that there are more Order and Neutral winners than Chaos winners and that there are more Chaos and Neutral winners than Order winners.

Thomas:
Spoiler:
Thomas Brandt

Age: 56
Gender: M

Six years. It's been six years since your only child went missing. Despite your best efforts, his location remains unknown.
He was always a problem child who never seemed to listen to others, yourself included.
You abandoned him roughly 18 months before he went missing hoping that living on the streets for a little bit would force him to change his behaviour.
You fully expected him to return home within a week or two. But he never did.
Despite this, you always kept track of him in one way or another.
But then he vanished while on a train to Bordeaux. Over the years your mental state has steadily declined, as you became more and more obsessed with the theory that seemingly random people going missing from trains about once a year have some sort of connection.
You've gathered eleven other people related to your child's abduction. You know there must be some sort of conspiracy going on.
You have created a serum that transforms people into how they see themselves. Perhaps this will shed some light on the mystery of six years ago?
You have set a bomb in your house that will kill anyone still inside at 3:00 AM.
The bomb is located in the Laboratory.
The bomb cannot be disarmed or moved.

You have used the serum on yourself in the past.
It takes a few hours to reach full potency, but you know that at your peak you can read the thoughts of others.
But you wonder ... what if you could do more than just read their thoughts?

You recognize everybody here.

Zero
"Revenge is a dish best served cold"

Code: Select all
STR +3 | DEX +3 | ACC +1 | CON -2

This House Is My House - You begin the game with a fully completed map and descriptions for every room. You also have a key to the Master Bedroom and the Front Door, meaning you do not need to meet the BP requirements of those doors to pass through.

I Know Your Deepest Secrets - You know some backstory on all the other players in the game and the reason why they specifically were chosen for this game.

Announcements From Zero - You may make game-wide announcements at any time in the form of pre-recorded messages. Your voice will be obscured in the messages and you will not be identified from them.

Read Access - You can read the current thoughts of other players. You must have a direct line of sight and you are restricted to reading the current thoughts of one player at a time.

Write Access - You can plant suggestions for actions into the minds of others. These suggestions will take the form of mod-suggested actions. A D20 roll will determine how strongly the suggestion will be made (the higher the roll, the more I will insist that it is a good idea to do the thing)

The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree - ???

The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree - You may speak with Silvio at any time. Silvio resides in the Ethereal Plane and may not interact with objects, but may observe events that are occuring.

I Am 【Zero】... The Captain Of This Ship - You may add or remove up to 3 unlocked (green) connections from the game. Every room must remain accessible at all times. You may use this ability once every 5 minutes in-game.

When dead:

Code: Select all
STR -5 | DEX -5 | ACC -5 | CON -5
Inept: Manipulating Objects

Traversing the Ethereal Plane - You may roam throughout the map as you please. You are no longer restricted by bracelet points and you may travel through walls.

Vengeful Spirit - You may attempt to manipulate one object in the realm of the living. You may do this once every 10 minutes in-game.

Victory Condition: Learn the truth of six years ago and ensure that nobody escapes. You do not need to escape.

Note: First 3 abilities all given at 6PM. Rest given as normal. 12AM ability starts out as ??? and is only revealed when communication is made.

John:
Spoiler:
John Doe

Age: 41
Gender: M

You are a very successful spy for your home nation and you love every moment of it.
Your only wish is that you could be in multiple places at once to perform more espionage duties for your home country.
You have amassed a lengthy list of enemies, but your country has always kept you safe.
You’ve always tried to imagine yourself as someone who could somehow be in two places at once.

You recognize [Frank] as the Conductor of a train you rode roughly six years ago.

Double
”Two heads are better than one”

Code: Select all
STR +3 | DEX +2 | ACC +1 | CON -2
Inept: Constitution Rolls

Generation - Severed limbs will grow back after 30 minutes.

Regeneration - Your wounds will heal significantly faster.

Seeing Double - You may clone yourself. You will lose 1 to every stat while your clone is active. Your clone and you have identical stats. You do not die if your clone dies, but your clone will die if you die. You may control both yourself and your clone simultaneously (but you must indicate which is the original and which is the clone). To merge back into one person, both the clone and the original must be in the same room. Cloning and merging happen instantly. You may only have one clone active at a time. Should your clone die, you may make another one immediately.

Internal Shuffle - You can move your internal organs around at will.

Ultimate Illusion - You may swap places with your clone at any time.

Victory Condition: Escape.

Yann:
Spoiler:
Yann Tissot

Age: 52
Gender: M

For the past 30 years you’ve worked on trains, ensuring that they arrive on time.
You’ve never had a late arrival, nor have you ever had an early arrival.
You’ve always somehow managed to be perfectly on time.
You often see yourself as someone who manages to bend time to their will, adjusting it to suit your needs.

You recognize [Frank] as a Conductor you’ve worked with in the past.

Time Keeper
“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”

Code: Select all
STR -1 | DEX +2 | ACC +0 | CON -3

Stopwatch - You can check the current in-game time whenever you like.

There’s Twelve Minutes of Added Time! - You may add or subtract up to 12 real time minutes to each in-game hour.

Note to Self - You can speak to yourself 5 minutes in the past and retroactively perform actions, or be warned of incoming future attacks that do not render you unconscious or kill you in one hit. This can also be used for a one-shot adept action. You may use this ability once every 15 minutes in-game.

It’s Just a Jump to the Left! - You are now adept at dodging incoming attacks.

...and a Step to the Ri-i-ight! - You can change your previous ambidex votes retroactively. Bracelet points will update immediately.

Let’s do the Time Warp Again! - You can travel to any moment in time of your choosing and you can perform one action.

Your only botched assignment was when you failed to assassinate a high ranking spy of an enemy nation on a train six years ago.
You tried to shoot him as he exited the train, but your shot missed and he fled.
You tend to imagine yourself as a fearsome dragon, striking fear into the hearts of others while you take down your prey - and anyone else caught in the crossfire - with ease.

You recognize [John] as the Spy you were instructed to kill six years ago.

Inferno! - You can set an entire room on fire, immolating everything inside. People inside the room may die or suffer injuries from this. You are immune from the effects. You may use this ability once every 30 minutes in-game.

Victory Condition: Escape and ensure that the Spy is dead.

Johan:
Spoiler:
Johan Scales

Age: 23

Ever since you were a kid you’ve always had a strong sense of justice.
You hate seeing crimes committed and people not taking action, but you are too small and too weak to do anything about it yourself.
Six years ago, you witnessed someone board a train alone but leave being carried by someone else. They didn’t seem to be conscious as they were carried off the train. Maybe they were just sleeping?
You’ve always imagined yourself as a judge who can give those criminals the sentences they deserve.

You love your job, and you love trains in general.
You often think of yourself in terms of features of a train.

You recognize [Yann] as a coworker you’ve worked with over the years. You like him, but he was always a bit strange. He was always obsessed with arriving exactly on time, down to the minute.

modrant

Overall I think the game went pretty well. A few things stood out but overall the game met its purpose.

I think the dynamic maps worked great, and they really were not very hard to make or update when new areas were explored. Definitely something I would recommend other hosts try out in their games.

The combat method used in this game was pretty bad though. Towards the end of the game I was barely using it because it was near impossible to kill someone with.

Roles getting new abilities over time was interesting, but I think saving the abilities most important to the role until the third or fourth ability was a mistake - those abilities should have been first or second, maybe with more powerful variants later in the game. I tried to set it up so later abilities were more powerful than earlier ones.

It was a pretty fun game. I was waiting for that last skill of mine to appear so I could mess around with people, but that didn't happen for death reasons.
The only thing I regret is not killing Johan when I was about to. I was legit discussing with LoF about killing him, but ended up deciding against it because I had to go elsewhere...

Everything was going so well until I was first attacked and then paranoia begun to stack up fast.
Frank pulled a knife on her, then Thomas attacked like 5 times which only managed to get her shirt, then Thomas attacked a bit more, then Frank attacked, tied her up and stole everything.

I ruined LoF's puzzle too so :D =3

Ahhh, good point. I just reread it all. But it was extremely coincidental timing.
I'd closed the door before you could get to it. Next thing I see is Frank's hands in the oven and taking a knife out.
Mental connection -> Frank's pulling a knife on me. He's going to attack
