Retributionist Rework/Changes

At the moment (especially with jailor meta) the game feels incredibly town favoured. Retributionist being such a strong role only makes an evil win much harder - it can confirm the retributionist, confirm the revived townie, confirm whether there is or is not a medium in the game and who they are, and basically denies 1 night's kill for evils. I just don't think it's fair, and most of the time any retributionists on the stand are given 1 day to proven themselves. Ret is so strong nobody wants to guilty a ret claim. My proposition is that ret is changed so that it requires 2 whole nights to revive someone, so if ret tries to revive someone on night n2, they will have to continue charging their resurrection and the person will be revived on day 4. If the ret is controlled by witch/rb'd/jailed/killed during this time, the retributionist will have their charge cancelled. I propose this change for 2 main reasons:

1: This makes retributionist a lot harder than it currently is to play - simply clicking one townie on night 2 regardless of their role is a huge advantage to town and doesn't seem fair, especially in a game with a medium in it. Compare w/r of town with retributionist Vs. without retributionist and the difference is significant.

2: This allows mafia and neutrals much more claim space and makes the possibility of retributionists getting lynched much higher. It will be difficult for townies to tell if the retributionist is faking their role or charging their resurrection, and roles such as lookout will be forced to make a decision between watching a jailor, TP, mayor or retributionist (to ensure the ret is not interrupted and an evil role is found). I think this will balance out the game and give evil roles a lot more opportunity to cause friction in the town and cast doubt on their own decisions, as well as making jester an even better role than it is now (thanks to the latest 'Innocent' update).

It makes for a harder town game, because as it stands, a day 1 jailor claim with a lookout in the game + a spy or escort will confirm multiple people in just 1 night, and a ret will confirm themselves and the revived role. The game feels far too town slanted in the current meta and I think this will change that.

Another idea would be that the person that the ret brings back cannot talk anymore and/or can no longer use their role. They are just a vote for towm, this still helps the town but does not allow them to confirm if there is a medium and a few other roles.

Or they could do it where the ret sacrifices his life for the life of a fallen townie, that way the town doesn’t gain a number but stays even.

I agree with that, at least the guy was confirmed townie.

This does not fix any of the issues, just makes Ret either give NOTHING to Town or give a fuck lot. It still confirms Meds, increases Town's majority and all the other things you said. The best fix would be its removal from Ranked, as it is not even balanced as a TPow role. OR.. something else.. we've discussed-

The role's doomed. It can't be balanced. The best fix for it is to remove the role.
