Cyromancer (Tweaked)

Role Name: Cyromancer

Coven Exclusive?: No, appears in free version too

Alignment: Neutral (Chaos)

Goal: Live to see Town lose the game.

Wins with: Neutrals, Mafia

Unique: No

Abilities: Freeze somebody at night.

Attributes: Once frozen, your target will be roleblocked.
The ice block formed around them also grants your target Basic defense. If they get attacked by a Powerful or up, the death will be attributed to you and the cause of death will be unknown.

Sheriff: Your target is not suspicious.

Witch/Consig: Your target loves to freeze people with ice powers. They must be a Cyromancer.

Invest: They must be a Vampire Hunter, Cyromancer, Amnesiac, Psychic or Medusa.

Notifications: Someone occupied your night. You were role blocked!
Someone attacked you but someone fought off your attacker! (Bodyguard's)


Think of the Cyromancer as a Neutral Escort with more abilities. Like killing.

If you are confused about the "attributed to Cyromancer" thing, here's how it goes:
Say a juggernaut kills someone (Bob) who was frozen; while the juggernaut has powerful attack. Instead of the normal "Killed by a Juggernaut" the town sees when accounting for the death of Bob, the message will say "We could not identify the cause of death". This does confirm a Cyromancer, but it helps them too. Did a werewolf attack, or maybe a Jester? The reasoning for this mechanic is that a person shatters once Powerfully attacked when frozen. Their shattered remains leave no trace of bite marks, suicide, stab wounds, etc.

The point of this role is to cause confusion among the town. All Basics (like SK) who attack a frozen target get a message stating their defense was too high, leading to suspicion of the target. A second reason for the Cyromancer is that a 3rd roleblocking role can result in confusion dealing with Escort claims.

Actually, this could be an interesting status NK if you were to add a consistent kill mechanic.
As it stands however

Fair warning, I know many of the ideas in this are pretty shitty/unbalanced, but I have a lot more knowledge of role mechanics and balancing now than I did then.

Currently Working On:
- Nothing in particular, might return to rework old ideas. We'll see.

The point of this role is to cause chaos among the town(Well duh you made a Neutral Chaos). All who attack a frozen target get a message stating their defense was too high, leading to suspicion of the target. I always thought of Escort as a Neutral role, so this is reason number 2 I made this role(Seems you dont know the game enough, play Escort more and you will realize why escort can be very important). Also, the Arsonist thing is just because of the whole "Fire vs Ice" thing.

I can change the goal if you would like. Also, I realize that Escort is a good role for stopping Mafias and Neutrals. However, I believe that a roleblocking role in the Neutral category can create confusion among town, deciding if their Escort claim is really Consort or a Cyromancer. I have also unlocked ranked so I know the game well. I will add an invest result and possibly change interaction with Arsonist. Alignment change, too?

What alignment should I place the Cyromancer in? Chaos, Killing and generally all of them don't seem to work. Should I create a new alignment?

I fixed what you said. But if the notification for being attacked while frozen was the same as protection by the BG, that would still confirm a Cyro as there is no dead bodyguard.

There's the Crusader's protection notification "You were attacked, but someone protected you." And the BG's "You were attacked, but a Bodyguard fought off your attacker."
