I'm still aiming for today(today being before i got to sleep) however these are the two most important posts aside from the game itself. I am not idle, but I want these to look as good as possible. So there may a delay. Rest assured it will take as little time as it can. Thank you for your understanding and patience. This is the hardest era for this forum. After this things will be smoother.

In addition to how I stated the player admission will work. After that there will be a locked post that I can edited to show the players that will be in the next game. Keep in mind everything that any stickied posts may also be edited. So the rules and regulations will be updated as needed. Currently editing the first version. That will be posted today. The FAQ is larger much larger.

Well, with hard work comes adequate results. It takes much more to make it great.
If anyone has a buff/nerf request I'm all ears. It has to be related to a classic character though. I couldn't find a popular one.

No, after the requirements have been set. Nothing much just a format and some little things to make testing smoother, then role ideas will be submitted to me. If a role idea is submitted by someone other than the creator I will contact the creator and make sure they give consent before testing their role.
I'm trying to avoid words like "best" and things like popularity.
But do still post your role ideas there. There is alot to be had from having the community talk about your idea.

I hate to be picky but if you're having role ideas be submitted, keep it to PMs. Having people create threads (even posts with similar purposes) can be considered cross-posting which is against the rules.

I wouldnt join if you are going to be inconsistent in your times. I wouldnt expect these to be like FM though, probably a lot shorter. I dont believe Blood has a set time yet.

Also some more things. the results should be not taken set and stone because...
1. We are better than almost all of the ToS community
2. This is in a different format
3. We wont be playing 100+ games.
4. Again, we are in a completely different format, with a different mindset, with better players.

It will be kept to PMs straight to me. I was just saying people should still post them where they belong in the role ideas that's all.
As for the timeframes, once we get into actual role ideas that require multiple phases it will be more spread out. Basically each Day/Night should last 45-60 minutes(with me hosting, other hosts may need longer) it lasts until victory, so 5-10 Day/Nights. Calculating that you'll find a good chunk of time. That's why the role testing is meant to take place over a week or two. As for this first round its timeframe can end whenever, this is just to show how and make sure everything works. One or two days would show that, but if you play ToS we should all have ingrained in our brains to want to see the end.


Progress update, this is what ill be using the welcome for. Once everything is squared away then I will likely lock this thread. Until then what is left is the FAQ, 6 times as long as the rules and regulations. The Mafia thread which i have done and is saved as a draft, and so is the Dead chat. Once I get these I just need to do the role idea requirements and things should be set.

I think this could be a very fun version of ToS. I've always wanted to experiment with buffs/roles, so this should be interesting.

I want to see a potential mayor nerf also.

Though i dont want to go too off-topic here i really disagree with your idea of a mayor nerf. I would rather see a whisper nerf.

What about a blackmailer buff that happens to be a whisper nerf? I'm thinking about replacing the framer in the first test with the blackmailer and using this.

If we are going to test something i think we should use the current Ranked Role List to be honest. I think that is more of a controlled environment. I would also be curious in how you made the whispers work in real time. (unless you are doing something akin to forum mafia, which would be fine too.)

Future tests won't use any ToS setup. So as to not give the impression we are just playing forum salem. Just the first one, and
classic is simple and often quicker than ranked. I wouldn't mind using the current ranked list or rather suggested ranked lists, but that would have to be later after we show the testing functioning
The time frames will curb whispering a good bit. The way they function will be in the FAQ, I'm positive there will be a lot of suggestions and questions regarding it when it is posted.

i understand but, if we are using this to test role buffs and nerfs then we should use the ranked role list imo since that is the only List meant for true balance at a competitive level. I understand that we dont just want Forum ToS though.

As always that's fair. I haven't drawn up the procedure for consistently testing buffs or nerfs or changes to already existing roles(Since the devs are farther away from this than role ideas, I think.) But when I do, your right Ranked is what is supposed to be balanced more than anything, I think those changes would be better tested there. I'll configure that, after the giant issue of starting this whole this is dealt with.

Is this still open?
I think I'd be a great tester for this game. I absolutely love the game, but it's In dev and the ranked role list is so unstable. I think I would make a great candidate for balancing roles.

I know you've chosen already, but if something happens to one of them (connections cut, vacation...), who do you use afterwards?

EDIT I honestly thought it was still april. I didnt see the other threads, sorry
