AMA Subforum

As the recent catastrophe that happened in the Lounge with everyone and their grandparent's creating an AMA thread for themselves.
There was the idea proposed that an AMA thread be created to house these sorts of threads, however for the time being they were cluttering The Lounge so they were moved to the *Trash Bin* (I assume just a forum that users cannot see, but so the posts are not deleted? I hope they're not deleted... ;-;)

There was talk on the general AMA thread about creating a subforum and I was instructed this:
Nellyfox wrote:Remember you're allowed to necro your own threads within reason.
Also posts like this will only clutter the thread even more, if you have a suggestion please make a thread in the Suggestions board.

  • I've personally worked hard to update the OP of my thread and even do some photo editing for some questions. I want people to know who Burgy behind the alias is.
  • It's so much easier to make these threads it's ridiculous.
  • And with just a general thread, people will not see the questions they are asked. Maybe people won't see the answers.
  • Some people just want to see about user X and not about user Y.
  • It's much less work for 1 user to update their own thread than 1 user to update a thread about 16 and climbing users.
  • It'd be much more organized from my perspective.
  • The general thread would turn into a chat thread

Those are just my two cents. What do you guys think?

I like the idea, but based off past situations, I find it highly unlikely that the mods would be okay with this.

you only support it because your guilty!

Although, I see no reason. Why? I don't know...I just don't see it as necessary.

As it stand, even I would object to having a sub-forum for this if I was in administrations shoes. While its really popular now, its only been going on for a less then 3 days; not enough time has passed for this to be recognized. Anyone will easily argue that its "just a trend and it will pass sooner or later" and that point is hard to overcome.

My advice: Learn from how DR sub-forum and FM forum boards came to fruition. They all were really popular, they had stuck around for a large amount of time, then when enough people really wanted a sub-forum, a representative went to TurdPile and asked if they could have this forum. He could say yes or no, and as its stands he most definitely (assuming) going to say no. Give it time, show that its something thats going to stay and stick, and he may consider it seriously.

I recommend you really kick this trend up a notch and give it a good 3 weeks to 1 month and a half before going to him and asking him.

All the threads were nuked. It's hard to after that.
I reaaaallyyy dislike the idea of a "general" thread.

I don't like this that much. This reminds of that time where the forums went pony crazy for like 2 weeks and everyone was over it after...well..not everyone. This thing is gunna blow over soon and there's going to be lonely AMA threads at the very back. A sub-forum for this I feel is asking for too much.If anything just make one thread where you can ask any person questions, I don't want to see 50. I realize that this is already a thing, a thread like that is fine in my opinion.

Another guilty person =3=

Eh, after reading all these posts. My opinion has slightly shifted. I'm still interested in the idea.

I worked very hard on my one!
I drew pictures and everything :(
And it took so long to post everything and upload stuff and draw. :(
It may be a trend now, but who's to say people won't keep it up by the way?
Also: I want to be known for more than just art, like Burgy has said.
I'm more than a 1 dimensional art slave working for everything, y'know?
And even so, we can all get to know each other in more in-depth conversations if you know what I mean.
I feel that we should keep this AMA thing up.
We get to be known a tiny bit by everyone, and an introduction thread really doesn't do that.
Introduction threads are for people who are new and stuff and it's for everyone to say 'Oh hey, welcome!'
But AMAs really get more of a feel of who a person is, by asking questions y'know?

@Everyone Calling It a Trend

If the trend lasts long enough with enough community participation, then I think this suggestion would be qualified.

Let's see how long this lasts!

START THE TIMER!

Can I make a suggestion for those who support this?
If you want to show that this isn't a trend and will stay for a long time, start using the one AMA thread that does exist as an AMA thread ... And not as a place to complain about the removal of all the others. If you want a subforum, you will have to prove that it's worth making one.

That is a good point. Complaining doesn't typically get you anywhere in life.

Actually, yeah that is a really good point.
Idk about the rest of you, but I definitely can keep it up for 3 weeks+
((I used to have an 'Ask' account where I had to do the same thing, while RPing as another character, y'know?))
I ran that account for a good few months, until I just dropped out of the fandom.
I'm pretty sure I won't drop out of my life/become disinterested with answering your questions xD
But a very good point indeed, Ciary!

Why not use the thread that milte made? If you really want to know a person better just message them, I'm not one to start conversation with people in real life but i have done it many times here... there's only so many questions you can ask someone on a public thread anyway.
All I see is ponies
did we make a thread for ponies
thank god no

I don't see why everyone needs their own thread, the one that milte made seems fine to me :?:

Why not use the Introduction threads? Nelly herself said it:

Nellyfox wrote:Remember you're allowed to necro your own threads within reason.

I can give you your initial AMA threads too, so you can use them as templates. Just send me a PM requesting it.

I believe using AMAs will bring much more purpose to the Introduction section as it is just in this template:

OP + replies practically saying "Welcome!" or "Hello."

Adding AMAs to your Introduction thread will help you a lot more to actually introduce yourself. How is that?

My question: Did you spam that Donald Trump bit throughout the game or just after victory?

I don't have a screenshot, but I won as mafia.

With only 2 mafia members.

And 3 arsonists.

None of the Mafia died, so we were covering for TWO players and not ONE.
