I do not think that VFM will work. I would not join a game knowing that I will probably be Citizen. Some TFM games have a Citizen majority, but they have interesting mechanics that make the game fun as Citizen. I know that it would be discussion based, but games like Town of Vengeance are also discussion based and are also a lot more interesting. I know that some people enjoy regular games with no interesting mechanics, but standard games accomplish that. They are also more fun and more balanced than VFM. Every type of game has a purpose, but I think that VFM would be boring and a bit pointless.

Your personal preference does not determine whether or not other people would enjoy it. Not everyone hates Citizen, while some people prefer the environment of VFM over standard games. It has a niche in having separate gameplay from most of FM.

It works because some people like playing a game mode with minimal swing, leaving player skill as remaining sole factor as to who wins.

I don't see how Cop, 6 Citizens and 2 Goons is in similar of a rolelist to standards with neutrals and many more power roles. People have expressed that they enjoy the roots of mafia and it's refreshing in contrast with mashes in TFM and SFM.

For some reason, it is hard for people to realize the fact that the core mechanic of this game is discussion and perception and they make Forum Mafia what it is. Saying that you do not like Citizen is basically saying that you do not like this game as far as I can see.

I completely agree with this.

I prefer Citizen to roles with night actions because as Citizen all I can do is benefit the town, should I play an intelligent game, but I feel like night actions have an extra sense of responsibility for the progression of the game that I am uncomfortable having. I can never choose a target as town, and I always overthink every night action. Whereas with discussion it is more about careful analysis that you can reverse and go the other direction, you have abilities to put pressure on or to clear someone of suspicion. You have to take the reins of the game as Citizen (and as any other role for that matter), you bear the responsibility of aiding the town to the right targets with thoughtful, insightful perceptions or fishing or whatever your personal skill is you must use it.

This is why in ToS I had a Medium and Mayor scroll because I like doing nothing but talk.

If you don't like the idea of VFM, then play non-standard games.

If you don't like a category, then don't sign up for games in it.

I don't think that is a very good solution to his issue. If I didn't like a type of FM game I would be upset that those games were taking away slots that I would enjoy playing. Not to mention he just wants to know why do people like this, there is nothing wrong with that. I think most people don't like Citizen because of the societal stigma surrounding the role that it is boring or some shit. It really isn't boring at all.

So the point of VFM is to be entirely read based then. Personally, I like being PRs over Citizen because I could actually do something to help the town at night. I don't dislike trying to help the town as Citizen though.
