FM Player Roles Game (Proceeding!)

Hello everyone, Santa and I are planning on hosting a game together. This game is based off a suggestion Santa placed earlier in FM discussion - a game where each role is a user. With people leaving and stuff, we've scrapped everything on the original post, and re-started assigning roles. Most of these come from the nomination game thing.

If I may suggest, perhaps use the results of the my Who's Who? event for the player names? If it isn't too intrusive to suggest such a thing, however it could make sense.

I used that when matching things up.

Oh yeah, we also plan to use xXxAQUAxXx (empath) and Aetios (psychotherapist)

My only concern for the town would be that there is no Town protective listed in the role list, I always feel there should be at least one. Unless there is a Higher chance of a Town protective being drawn from the Random Town slots. Other than that - I'm for this idea :) Themed games are awesome.

Would it be good or bad if I placed a rule that you can only say the player name of the role card your speaking about, and cannot use the Fm role card name?

That might be a bit mean.

The role cards could go along the lines of

My first suggestion is to immediately draw your ideas about names entirely from the "Who's Who" Nomination thread.

I took a lot of time making sure that each role got its own name, so hopefully this much can help you here. But I like the theme of this, so I voted yes.



But how else will the names play a role in the game? Besides renaming the card itself, is there anything else the card will do?

Some ideas:

1. Perhaps increase the game size to guarentee that every role card will appear in the game, and only once. (E.G 33 roles = 33 players, each assigned a forum user/unique card.)
2. Also, maybe change the way we announce the Day? Perhaps talk about what each forum user did last night?
3. Players could die "by viruses/being hacked" instead of obviously dying. You know, more theme stuff.

I like the idea, but I feel like we could expand even further.

If the Hosts are up to it, maybe inject a story into the game. That would make sense given the theme, and always seems to liven things up. Being said, that is very time consuming, and isn't necessary to actually have the game run, so it would be reasonable to forgo a story.

1. Disagree. It wouldn't be random then. The list would be so predictable. Also, a 33 player game would take forever, unless you shorten Day phases by a large margin.
2. What do you mean by what each forum user did last night? Stuff not related to the game?
3. Not sure how this would work?

I like ricks idea ill make all of the roles from the whos who thread.
I would like a story out of this

Mafia could be hackers, sk could be virsus there could be even more.
33 players would have to talk with santa on this.
This will start when the whos who thread is over and when Santa's game is over.

And you guys find a FM mod to sponsor you, of course. I'll send you guys the official list when its over. Would you like me to remove repeat usernames, and substitute them for the next highest voted roles, when I send you this list?
It would be fairly easy for me to fairly move names around, without cheesing anything, so you guys don't have to.

1. What's the issue with the predictability of the list? You know that every single role exists, not who has what role. That much still is difficult.
2. I was thinking along the lines of this...

TurdPile snickers as another helpless forum user had their IP's banned from the forums.

(^ sent by the player with the TurdPile role, else we make some random thing about a default line) Other examples include:

ValeforRaine spent hours last night reviewing the thread. When she thought she found something, she got Rick-Rolled.
Rickdaily12 laughed loudly to himself, writing guides that don't help people escape their computers exploding to his objections.

3. Instead of "dying by stabbing", they just lose access to the forum in this sense. They don't die- they just won't be online for some computer reason.
It's not hard to grasp how that works in place of dying.

Rick, regarding a role list like that, my main concern is balancing: neutrals would be screwed, all being alone; town would be OP, having all of their powerful roles (mayor, lawyer, jailor, trans, vet, etc.); mafia wouldn't be too bad. Perhaps increase the number of players further to accommodate extra roles, to add balance? The exacts would have to be figured out later, of course.

Neutrals + Mafia get the advantage, while the town does not, we could add something like, town could lynch on the first day.

I'm not so sure about that.

15 Town, 8 Mafia, 10 Neutrals. 4 Neutrals are Neutral Killing, 5 Neutrals can win with the Town, and as many as 7 Neutrals can win with each other.

Town starts with the Majority (sorta, there's too many of them to ignore entirely), and has a lot of firepower, but can't waste it on people like Jesters and Executioners. Rather, they need to find targets among the NKs and the Mafia before it gets out of hand.

NKs also need to worry about the Mafia.

There's a lot going on, but I think it could end up working out.
