Mafioso came up as innocent

My friend and I were playing in classic mode on the steam client. During a game where she was sheriff, she investigated the mafioso, but they came up as innocent instead of suspicious. When he was lynched later on, it was revealed that he was in fact the mafioso. We are unsure of why this is, but figured it was a weird bug. We have a picture we can share if necessary.
