BG protection message when visiting vet

In a CTT game so no Hypno. I was also Tracker in case that matters.
On the second night I visited the Veteran and was killed for it. For some reason, I also recieved the message, "You were attacked but someone fought off your attacker!" The same night, both PM and Poisoner died to Trappers, but no deaths involving a BG. When I asked the PM and Poisoner, neither of them said they attacked me. There was a BG in the game, and they were on me the night I died, but they didnt die saving me, so clearly their ability wasnt actually - or properly - activated. That night I was only attacked by the Veteran, but I still recieved the BG message.
It is possible the crus protected the BG and the BG's ability to die saving someone DID activate, but even if that did happen (most likely didn't), that's still a bug.
The main takeaway/bug here is that people who die to vet and have a BG on them seem to have the BG protection message, even though the protection never takes place.
