Trouble signing in through steam

Me and a friend are currently having trouble signing into the game through steam. I just installed the game, ive verified integrity of game cache. Ive restarted steam. Its still just telling me that its verifying my account. I tried to google a resolution but everything appears to be from years ago, as far as i know there are still people playing the game, and the servers are still up.

You need to reset your password, and then change it. It's giving you the 'Verifying Account' message when it's supposed to be giving you a warning about changing your password. Please follow the instructions on the FAQ below and it should grant you access to the game. Cheers!
