Incorrect Suspension

Postby louferrigno » Thu Oct 21, 2021 9:12 am

Report https://blankmediagames.com/Trial/viewReport.php?id=3534759 is an incorrect 24h suspension.

The town made a deal with the jester that in return for their vote to hang mafia, they would vote jester to give them a win.

At the end of the game, I then voted jester but some townies refused to vote jester out of pettiness/spite.

If I had refused to vote anyone at all or been AFK, the suspension would be valid.

For the same argument that I was reported, I could also have reported the other townies for not voting. By not voting the jester, they forced the draw.

The game had spare townies and even if mafia inno'd the jester, town would still have won.

Thus... suspension is incorrect.

Greetings,

please note that causing a draw when you could have won the game is considered gamethrowing.

Thank you, Jerme.

This is a fair point, but with that argument, the other town players would also be gamethrowing because I was voting to win, I was voting the jester. The other players chose not vote the jester - as we had agreed - thus the outcome was in their own hands and they caused the draw.

If I had refused to vote at all it would be right to say my actions caused the draw. But I did vote - every day - and gave my reasoning in game as the log proves. I kept the deal with the jester, the town had an escort to keep the last mafia blocked. The other townies reneged on the deal with the jester and then reported me. Two wrongs cannot make a right and this suspension is not fair. The win was in the town hands if they had voted jester.

You might have voted, but refused to be the winning vote on the Godfather, but instead wanted to lynch the Jester, who the town does not have to lynch in order to win.

I did not refuse to vote the Godfather, I didn''t vote the Godfather when those players wanted me to vote the Godfather. I would have voted the Godfather the next day after the jester was hanged, thus keeping the deal that was made with the jester when the jester earlier broke the deadlock to vote the mafia.

I was voting to win and explained this clearly to the other players, who in turn refused to vote, thus preventing the win. The circumstances are specifically important, the town still had an escort to block the last mafia, thus the win was guaranteed even if jester haunted town. The town was only in the position to vote at all because the jester sided with town and the town that complained was in full control to take the win if they had voted. Instead they chose not to vote and make the report. With their own interpretations, they would have also been reportable.

If more clarification is required please reply and I'll go through the log and paste here as necessary.

This is very black and white: You were the sole one standing in the way of winning. The town is not required to hang the jester in this scenario. You purposely dragged out the game and refused to hang the last opposing evil. No matter which way you try to spin this, you are the one that directly made sure your team didn't win, out of spite for your team not feeling the need to hang the jester.

The gamethrowing rules are clear: Intentionally losing the game or hurting your teams chances of winning(even if that team is just you) is gamethrowing.
And you intentionally stood in the way of your team's win.
The fact that you are even trying to turn this onto your team, in a blackmailing manner ("If they would have done what I wanted, I would have let them win") is just ridiculous. You don't get to hold people's wins hostage until they do as you please.

Report is valid and valid reports are not eligible for appeal.

You are wrong and sadly this reflects many instances of poor judgement that have been seen on this forum.

The game was not lost, it was drawn. The opportunity to win was firmly in the hands of the town, they chose not to vote the jester. None of my actions were out of spite, they were out of decency to keep a deal made with a player that voted mafia, thus giving the town the chance to win.

I did not intentionally try to lose the game, I voted to win. You even put words in my mouth that I did not say (your comment about blackmailing). The very fact you cannot see this is shameful.

Please note that win > draw > loss, so as you were the only one refusing to place the winning vote, even on the final day, it means that you did throw the game, simple as that.

I'm sorry Jerme but again that is wrong. The BG was also not voting as the log proves.

I referred earlier to the escort in the game. There was no escort in the game and I typed this to test if judges were actually checking the log. Now it appears they are not. I appreciate these things are not always clear and straighforward but judges need to show good judgement when interpreting the rules. I was voting to win and the log proves a spiteful attitude from other players to deny the jester their win at any cost. This is very clear in the log and that is why this is an exceptional circumstance and the suspension should be reversed. The jester allied with the town to break the deadlock and vote mafia and I was one of the only fair and decent players to keep the bargain, rather than the toxic players who would rather push to report than vote to win. If I had not voted at all, it would be fair to say I stalled the game, but I voted every day and I voted to win.
