Well, in my opinion, ranked practice was better and more exciting before this patch. I just played in the new patch, and we had 3 investigators (including me) and all we did is whispered to each other about others' identity, but we didn't really had a role in the match. Mafia easily got it. So... overall, i think the version before this, was better.

Change Ranked Practice back to the Role List of Ranked? Otherwise it isn't really 'Ranked' Practice is it???

We are experimenting in the off season with what the Ranked list for Season 1 will be.

Was it better because Town had a 70% win rate? We are trying to bring the factions win rates more in line with what we think is acceptable.

It really nerfs jailor though, its impossible to weed out people as jailor and end up killing your 4th TI claim.

I'm enjoying CRP so far. Though I can't say I've seen many NK win, I think 1 WW has, and an arson and I teamed up to force draw against coven when I was escort, but that's not really a win. But I don't think they should win very often.

I understand the new role list for ranked practice is just a test, but in my opinion, it's just as unbalanced. Out of the like 20 games I've played, mafia have won over half of them. The new role list makes it near impossible for the jailer to narrow down the roles and makes it impossible to figure out who to execute or lynch and gives mafia endless options to claim, same with the vigilante on who to shoot. I've had multiple players agree in game.

So I should have a much lower chance of winning if I am unlucky with the role that I get?

33/33/33 would be very difficult to do and would not be fair because of your reasoning, but proportional winrates are at the other end of the spectrum. I would prefer something closer to the middle like 45/35/20.

Town and Mafia/Coven should be equal at the very least. They are competitive teams.
Factional balance - understanding that whisper games are bad because they cause Town to win a disproportionate amount

Strategical balance - understanding that whisper games are bad because there's no reason to use any other strategy

Structural balance - understanding that disabling the Mayor's whispers, despite it fixing whisper games, means that a player can't use a core mechanic of the game and is still bad

This matters - educate yourself.

But mafia is a minority, so it shouldn't be even. IMO 50-30-20 is fairest to me.

Games like TF2 give you a disadvantage if your team has less players than the other team because the game was never meant to have uneven team numbers. Games like Mafia understand that the mafia has less numbers than the town so they make it easier for mafia to take control by giving them things like a night chat and more powerful abilities. Imagine a game where your odds of winning were lowered simply due to RNG. Having equal winrates allows a purely skill-based environment. Those equal win odds will lower throughout the game but that's okay because they were lowered by not being as good as he players you're up against. It's more fair that way, which is something you cannot deny.

it's a fair point but it shouldn't be anywhere NEAR 33-33-33 split because, by that same logic, rolling town (which is more likely) yields the same victory rate as rolling mafia, thus RNG still determines the likeliness of your win in this case.

It doesn't, because at the start of the game, all players have the same chance of winning: 33%. Whichever rolenyou roll means nothing if you're good with that role. The same cannot be said for more proportional winrates.

I would not be opposed to lowering NK winrate a bit, however. I mean, I'd rather not, but as long as Town and Mafia are equal and NK has a decent chance I'm not complaining.

Hi!

I know it isn't listed in this update, but I was curious if the spy could go back to being able to read whispers and seeing the mafia speak at night. I'm wondering if this has been an ongoing complaint? I'm really hoping for it to come back! I miss it!

The Spy will be reworked, so this role won't be reverted to the previous state.

I still have fingers crossed for an in-lobby report button, becuase it gets real trolly sometimes and it is difficult to catch them because they leave.
I always have my avatar as a throwback to a classic many people miss, I don't know what you lot like so don't say you are disappointed.

Spy is useless right now, it really needs addressing ...


it didn't really need a nerf in the first place, and now it is really pointless - as a TI its powerless and really difficult to gain info for town
