Yes, I was surprised when I found that out myself.

In fact, this is a phenomenon found in many animals. Even some species of shark have it.

Why is the teacher less mad about the kids fighting in class and more mad about me telling them to “sit the fuck down”?

I may have a shit ton of work from my classes, but oh man have I been enjoying having a class in Video Game Music this semester. Plus our professor is really cool, so that definitely makes the other classes more bearable due to the fun class I have too!

A very notable example of the nictitating membrane in popular culture is when it is seen in Men in Black, a reality in which certain species of alien possess it.

The term "nictitating" comes from the Latin "to blink", which is "nictare".

The term originates in the late 17th century, with the root "nictat" meaning blinked.

I'm in the 8th grade of a Finnish primary school, which is considered to be the hardest year of primary school here, even harder than the last year, 9th grade. And it really shows. The leap from 7th grade is pretty big, and there's a shit ton of schoolwork now. As a matter of fact, I spent 8 hours on top of my schoolday working on a geography project (partially because my working schedule was bad but anyway lol). But I guess I shouldn't whine too much, I mean I'm only about in the halfway point of the education system, and I bet many people work much more in college and high school.
As a student, I'm a good boy, I was the best student of my class during grades 1-6, and at least in the top 3 during 7 and 8 (so far). However, my school motivation has been kind of low during this year, and I'm pretty sure my grades will drop a noticeable amount. I'm going to work more next year though, mostly because gymnasium is getting closer and closer, and heck if I don't want to be in a good one.
Anyway, I have one week left before winter break, which is cool.

I am in college studying computer science. Right now I'm on break, but in school I have so much trouble focusing. Procrastination is my downfall because I am addicted to the internet. School would be so much better if I didn't have these problems. I am trying to work on it over break, but I fear I will apart again once midterms come. Town of Salem is weirdly helping me with internet addiction, well actually social media addiction. A few years ago I had to stop playing TOS because I couldn't last a night without switching tabs. But now I am trying to stay on one tab at a time.

Okay, I rambled a bit, but the point is that fear and addiction are holding me back in school, so it sucks.
