Morning ladies and gents, just a quick one from me.

I've been using the phone app and website duolingo for quite a long time on and off, and while my reading and writing in both Spanish and French has improved, my listening and speaking skills are incredibly limited. Does anyone have the same issues with the app or could it simply be my own learning style?

If anyone French happens to be on these forums I would also love the opportunity to message back and fourth in French to practice my ability to formulate my own sentences.

On a slightly separate note, if anyone has any recommendations for websites or apps that would help with my issue please let me know them!

Why are you using Duolingo... I've heard rumors that if you don't complete their lessons in time they put a hit on you.

Listening/Speaking skills will stagnate if you’re not practicing them, and Duolingo’s sentence-based method isn’t going to help greatly. They have podcasts for each language, as do other outlets for listening skills. You could also try searching for news or programs in slow [language] to help as well.

Duolingo isn't evil just strict if you want to learn a language then you should fucking do it otherwise it won't let the app's success rate go bellow 100%

In other news though I'm on an 11 day streak and having been speaking French with someone consistently, messaging and chatting (as much as I can) and I have to say when you combine the two it's actually quite effective.

Duolingo does actually seem to be helping, at the very least with grammar and adding words to my vocabulary.
