Veteran shooting but nobody dies

Two nights in a row I alerted and on both nights nobody died to me even though it said I shot who visited me and who attacked me.

Was there a Doctor, Crusader, or Guardian Angel in the game? It could just be that the people you shot were healed.

Yep. This happened to me.
I was a investigator checking an alerting veteran N1, but was luckily healed by a doctor

Was there a Necromancer or Hex Master in the game? These roles can attack you without visiting you, so you could protect yourself from their attack without killing them in the procesa (from your description, Necromancer would be my best guess).
