friend code not working

I got my friend to purchase ToS+ coven so we could play together and have tried using the friend referral code but each time its saying its incorrect. Ive copied it and sent it to him and hes been using it as is so its not a typo error. We've tried three codes and neither worked. they all said incorrect code. are we not doing something right (not sure if this is even the right board to post this in) this is the first time ive tried using the referral code so not sure if its a user error or an actual bug.

To get referral rewards, your friend needed to input your name as "Referrer" in the registration form.

The referral codes are for the 5 free "trial" games.

The codes itself can only be put in when the account has no premium status and registered after November 4th 2018. After clicking the play button, one is prompted to upgrade their account, but there is also a button for entering a referral code. When there is already a premium status achieved there is no possibl way to put something in, I apologize.
