NEVER push surv claims as town, at least until you get info.

Hello. This thread is on the widespread agreement that "most surv claims are evil". But this isn't true to the slightest. You're listening to the rubbish evils spit out when town investigates one of their faction members and need to push someone. They say things like "Hes been silent, obvious evil" "pls town dont throw and just up the evil surv claim", when they survivor wasn't doing anything out of line.

So people believe that survivor claims are usually evil. Sure, some survivor claims are evil, but most aren't. Try to get as much info on a survivor before lynching them, unless its an arso game and all of maf/cov/vamp is dead. At that point, you should start hanging Neutral claims to try to find the NK.

STRATEGY TO SORT OUT SURV CLAIMS:
Your job as each role is this:
Jailor/Mayor - Make sure to avoid pushing surv claims until you have to. Remember, other evils are your priority, not random lynches. If you have a free night, feel free to execute a surv claim, but be aware this could be the difference between life and death for you. Also, keep town in line as much as you can. If town starts ignoring you, its probably an evil majority. Start executing.
Protective: KEEP INVESTIGATIVES ALIVE!!! They are your way of finding bad surv claims. If there's a Tracker or Invest, prioritize them.
Investigative: Work with town to start confirming survivors. But don't focus extremely on survivors; there's other evils to focus on as well.
Support: Do what supports do. As Escort, roleblocking survivors is not a bad idea. And make sure you coordinate with the dead as Medium to help find good lynches. As Retributionist, if you have to choose between using a dead Doctor on the living invest and using a dead invest on the survivor claim, pick the first option. Its even better if the living invest is Consigliere, because mafia will help push NKs.
Killer: As Veteran, do veteran things. You don't need to worry as much. And as Vigilante, don't bother shooting surv claims. There's 2 major outcomes: 1. Its a real survivor, and they don't vest. You waste a bullet and a potential ally. 2. Its Arso/other NK, and its immune and they say they vested. Now you're plagued/doused. If the Survivor was real, and they vested, they may side evils because you shot them. Try to win Survivors onto your side.

And as all roles: Push survivors if any investigative claims they aren't real. Worst case scenario: The survivor is real, and town believes the Consigliere that pushed the survivor is jester and lets the consig survive to the endgame, letting Maf win.


The most important tip of all: SCUMREAD. During night phases where there's nothing much to do, look at how suspicious players have acted to help you determine if they are innocent or guilty. This helps out a lot more than you would think.

Like many things, I think it depends on the mode. In a rolelist with a strong Town majority, it’s probably good to push Survivor claims because scum will likely need them to win. In All Any, it’s usually good to keep Survivor claims as Town unless it seems like there are a lot of Townies. When in doubt, I usually push Survivor claims unless there’s someone better to lynch. At worst, you’re going to either out a quiet Jailor/Mayor or kill a potential ally who can also side against you if they want. At best, you’re going to get an NK or other evil role. Unless there are are very few Townies and the Town needs all the help they can get, the upsides of lynching Survivor claims usually but not always outweigh the downsides.

Of course, the best thing to do is scumread or use a TI. If the Survivor claim is pushing mislynches and not helping Town, go ahead and lynch them. If they appear to be making an effort to contribute and are voting with Town, keep them.
