Countermeasures to Mafia That Lynch One of their Members?

Throwing a Mafia under the bus "bussing" is a tactic I sometimes use to make myself appear Town; especially if they're already a bit suspicious of one of my teammates, have a Framer, or I have an AFK. The advantage of bussing is that I can have a field day mislynching Townies and making my remaining Mafia appear innocent. So far, Towns have simply fallen apart if I bus; but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm playing at a level where Towns simply don't have an answer for it.

To those of you playing at a higher level than me. How do you detect bussers? I want to be prepared as I climb up after 3 years in retirement.

If they haven't posted results on any other day besides that day which they may have claimed Investigator/Sheriff/Lookout then that is a good sign.
Compare their claim to the rolelist, if their role doesn't fit the rolelist then ofc just kill them.
If they are copying other TI's results from previous days or the same day then do not give them much credit compared to whomsoever posted their results first, Example:
Sheriff checks Consigliere with in-game name Xand posts in chat "X came up suspicious!"
Shortly after Mafia also claims to have checked Consigliere and posts "X came up suspicious for me too!"
X is lynched in a 2 for 1, they reveal as Mafia.

Basically, do not give much credit to people who post after another TI posts the exact same result, this should also be noted for Whispers. I remember when I was Blackmailer a Sheriff whispered to Jailor that they found one of my teammates suspicious. So as instinct I quickly made a result on that teammate saying they were suspicious before the Sheriff could post first. I was credited a lot for the find compared to the actual Sheriff and I was able to win the game because of that.

If you are good in busing then the only way to get caught is, when Town by process of elimination comes to conclusion that you must be the Mafia, or you stopped providing valid results (if you claimed TI to bus).

You may ask, if that is the case why people are not busing in high elo?

Simply, because if you bus a person D2, then Town get a tempo to gather more information, TIs can check people, Jailor can interrogate someone without pressure. Mafia needs to kill someone which often reduces number of suspects as without VFR you don't have information on both sides. It hurts Mafia badly when you don't know who to kill.

With this extra tempo, Town usually can confirm enough people to caught the busser with PoE.

Recently, I tried bussing D2 and we lost when at D4 Sheriff executed by Jailor had in will 2 remaining Mafia as suspected by N1 and N2 results. XD

You will occasionally get someone constantly saying someone is mafia

You don't need mechanics. Example:
7 people left(4 Town + 3Mafia), 3 are confirmed Town, 2 people claim TK, 2 people have questionable claims. As Mafia you bus people with questionable claims to take a TK spot. Not mechanics but PoE.

I tried it recently, Town completly ignored me and lynched confirmed Escort. Then it didn't really matter, because Mafia killed Jailor really fast and dominated the Town.
