Seems to me this primarily functions as a limited-use Alignment Cop.

...except that it can create a draw by giving Basic Defense to as many townies as there are Mafia.

Doesn't look so good to me.

Gotta bunch o questions.
First, can you give yourself a sword or shield? (Recommended: No)
Second, can you use the sword/shield more than once? (Recommended: No)
Third, would mafia kill you if you gave em shield or only if you give em sword? (same for neutral) (Recommended: Only Sword)
Fourth, do your weapons rust when you die, or would that person still be able to use em? (Recommended: Rust)

@Brilliand I don't think that would ever happen since you can only give one shield, and according to my recommendations, you couldn't give it to yourself (and they rust when you die). And also, the shields are one-use so that would only last for one night anyhow.... you could get into a situation where you continously give the BG/doc a shield against 2 mafia perhaps... but that's the same as 2 BG or 2 Doc so eh looks good to me

The thing I have a problem is that you can instantly find mafia and neutrals. Yes, it will kill you but it basically confirms them as mafia and forces a 1v1 trade, which is basically a successful bodyguard. (yes there is other subtleties with BG BUT) In addition, in the case that you don't find a mafia, you basically create a town vigilante.

So either you make a vigilante or you force a 1v1 trade with mafia (or you sheriff a neutral), either way, it seems OP

(1) The role is to easily confirmable. They literally just have to select a Town target and they are confirmed as a Blacksmith.
(2) It's interaction with the Mafia is comparable to the Escort's interaction with the Serial Killer, except if it dies to Mafia, their target is more likely to be evil due to the number of Mafia in the game.
(3) It automatically discovers who the Neutral Killing and Neutral Evil are if it gets its item back.
(4) It knows who Town members are if it gives an item away successfully.
(5) You can give a Town member basic defense permanently (or basic attack, converting them into a Vigilante with an endless supply of bullets).

I think the role definitely has great potential.

Now then, I believe it would be a lot better if the Blacksmith didn't get ANY kind of notifications about who they sent their equipment to.
They won't know if they sent their sword/shield to mafia, neutrals, or town. This way, the receiver won't be confirmed to the blacksmith as such.
Certain roles with lots of power should not be able to use the equipment provided by the blacksmith like the Mayor, or Jailor.

I also believe it should be a Town Protective role rather than a Town support. The sword and shield are used to to defend against whoever wields them.

But now the only real problem lyes in how to prevent the role from becoming confirmed so easily, which I cannot think of any solution around as long as you want to keep the concept of blacksmith giving out its items to other players. In all circumstances, a townie is going to know if they received an item, and there would be no reason for the blacksmith to not come forth with saying "I made that for you" via whisper or something.
Wanna say somethin'? >B3

1. nope, you cant!
2. you can create each only once
3. both should work fine, but sword might be a better option!
4. i didnt really think about that but the rust might help balance it
also, i believe the sword has only one use, or i might re-read it, but for the sake of it probably not written in the role, it only has ONE use!

about the confirmation, i believe that if both neutrals or townies receive the weapon, the notification is "You gave the <item name> to <player name>, and left the house unnoticed"
while yes, it might be easily cofirmed to the town, by blacksmith whispering to them, it is as much as if the doctor protects one person, and then the doctor whispers to the person.

a good nerf could be, that if he gives away one of his weapons, either of them, he cant be protected anymore (just like mayor) since the town knows that he gave away one of his items as much as town knows that mayor revealed himself. but not to make it too bad, he doesnt have to give the weapon instantly after creating it, and keep it.
thats all i have to say!
