First & Foremost
Welcome to TREE - take note of the title, as it contains the current phase that we are in. Below are the phases, with explanations:
When the current thread title reads: | Closed, there are no scheduled tests.
When the current thread title reads: | Test In <time>, a coming test has been announced.
When the current thread title reads: | Testing, a test has begun and people may join.
If you would like to reserve a place in an upcoming test, we encourage you to message the Role Ideas Moderators, especially Parallax and GoogleFeud, the representatives of this thread.
Testing
- Before a test begins, a host shall wait until there are a minimum of 7 players in the Client so the produced tests accurately portray the role.
- A host will also decide to test a specific role or overhaul, however will keep it anonymous to other players so players don't actively work against that role, and so everyone is uninformed.
Recording
- After the Testing phase, the tests are reviewed by the hosts to see if they accurately present the role which was tested - these are known as balanced tests.
- Whilst the unbalanced tests are removed, the balanced tests are summarized by recording all night and day actions in a spreadsheet, including a summary of tactics and day meta.
- The spreadsheet, the document of raw text and verdict shall be posted in the OP under the Test Archive once this phase has ended, along with signups for the next Testing phase.
Evaluation/Editing
- After multiple Testing and Recording phases with sufficient balanced tests, TG Balancers, referring to the tests, vote whether they Approve, Remove or in need for More Edits, or More Testing - there is the option to abstain also.
- Upon each conclusion, the outcome for the role in question shall be different:
Approved -
The role is seen as balanced and no longer tested.
Removed -
The role is seen as unbalanced and removed from the Testing Grounds.
More Edits -
The role enters the Editing phase, where Balancers decide on a suitable and viable edit to make the role more balanced, and then continues to be tested.
More Testing -
The role continues to be tested.
Synopsis
To remember our process - the acronym TREE, should suffice..
Testing phase
- Community members join tests, simulated games in a Town of Salem environment, to test roles. (~3 days)
Recording phase
- Tests are logged on separate documents and spreadsheets summarized. Each test is then analyzed and discussed, being finally ruled as balanced or unbalanced. (~4 days)
Evaluation phase
- Balancers review the logs, spreadsheets and documents and decide whether the role is approved for the game, or disapproved. Alternatively they may decide the role needs more testing, or edit it and continue testing. (15 days)
Editing phase
- Balancers suggest and then vote on edits to roles which need to be overhauled. (7 days)
