The Bratva Faction - Feedback Please (1400+ Views)

Postby BuckeyeNation » Sun Feb 05, 2017 7:47 am

The Bratva
#ThePitch: A differently balanced Mafia, for players that want to change it up a bit.
#UniqueFactionBonus: All Bratva roles will show up in the graveyard as Bratva. [ example: BuckeyeNation (Bratva) . Investigator results/etc will still show their roles though]
#LazyLore: The Russian Mafia, called the Bratva, heard that the Mafia was beginning to lose power overseas, so they decided to expand their operation into foreign territory. They began their quest for power in a little town called Salem. They sent some of their top men, under the command of a Brigadier, to enforce the will of the Bratva in this new land.
#AnythingElse?
- The Bratva would be an optional substitute for the Mafia in a normal game. Not trying to get rid of Mafia, just trying to shake up the repetitive nature of the game.
- The roles in play would be Brigadier, Assassin, and one or two Random Bratva roles, just like Mafia in a normal game.
- This is a complete pitch, but I'm always looking for ways to improve the Faction! I did as much brainstorming and balancing as I could within the Faction Development Thread, but there will always be ways to improve! Feedback is not only appreciated, but encouraged. Thank you, and enjoy!

Each Role In TL;DR Form
Spoiler: Brigadier - Godfather, but visits people to roleblock their visitors. Kills instead if Assassin cannot.
Assassin - Independent Mafioso that can stab or snipe people. Nerfed appropriately to not be as OP as it sounds.
Mystic - Escort that can visit each player only once, Bratva included. If they visit Bratva, they buff that role for the following night.
Ventriloquist - Spy that can control someone else's voice during day discussion 3x, but not on the stand. Town is alerted to Ventriloquist at dawn, but doesn't know who.
Enforcer - Make their text all garbly for a day. If they successfully beat the same target 3 nights in a row, the target dies.
Identity Thief - Janitor, but if they die, they appear to be the first role they cleaned, like an old Disguiser. Still 3x only, I'm not a monster.
Deceiver - Framer, but if their target get lynched, the role appears as Bratva and their Last Will appears empty
Spotter - Lookout, but you see any Investigative results that they were getting too, if any. Or can see who visits entire Bratva.
Informant - Functions the same as an Investigator, but you also see who your target visited, if anyone. You can obviously rule out Bratva results, lol.

I included Electrician (by Kirize12) and Parasite (by sh99er) to fill space in the Investigative results because I removed Vampire and Vampire Hunter (fck Vampires). I thought it would be neat to see different neutral roles in this mode, and I wanted to fill the space in the results, but I'm not married to any in particular. Those two are just my favorite concepts for NK and NE that I've seen. I did not make those, full credit goes to their aforementioned creators.

The Brigadier
Spoiler: Name: Brigadier

Alignment: Bratva Killing

Abilities: Visits players to scare away their visitors; kills on nights that Assassin cannot.

Attributes: Each night, you may select one player’s house to intimidate visitors away from.
Visiting players will not perform their roles, only getting the message “The Brigadier has blocked your access!”
If the Assassin is roleblocked or killed, you will instead kill your target.
Brigadier and Assassin cannot visit the same target. [only can if witched, and Brigadier blocks the Assassin's access in that case]
If the Assassin is killed, the Brigadier will gain their abilities, but not change role.

Special Attributes: Night immune
Will show up as Not Suspicious to sheriff.

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results:
Sheriff – Your target is not suspicious.
Investigator – Your target is not afraid to get their hands dirty. They must be a Bodyguard, Brigadier, or Arsonist!
Consigliere/Witch – Your target leads the Bratva with ruthless efficiency. They must be a Brigadier!

Skin/Avatar: This sort of thing, but slightly bulkier.

The Assassin
Spoiler: Name: Assassin

Alignment: Bratva Killing

Abilities: Carry out the will of the Bratva.

Attributes: The Assassin is skilled and can kill two different ways.
- Select a user on the left to stab them at night. [There are two rows of buttons, like a witch or transporter]
- A bodyguard can kill the Assassin and live [if they're protecting the target or self-vesting]
- A doctor will heal the target, but also see the Face of the Assassin! [their name]

- Select yourself on the right side instead to climb into a Sniper’s Perch (no kills that turn) [NOTE: if you are not on the perch, your name will be the only one with a right hand button. After you are on the perch, the rest of the names will fill in to select the following night]
- The following nights, select a target on the right to safely shoot all who visit the target (including Town Protective)
- You may select yourself from the perch to shoot all of your visitors!
- You may climb down from the perch to stab a target at any time, but must always forfeit a night to climb back up

Special Attributes: none

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results: Sheriff – Your target is a member of the Bratva!
Investigator - Your target owns weapons. They could be a Vigilante, Veteran, or Assassin!
Consigliere/Witch - Your target has many ways to kill. They must be an Assassin!

Additional Information: Jailor is immune to Sniper fire. <---- important. Can't just select a jailed Bratva member.

Skin/Avatar: In my mind, I picture something like this iteration of Slade Wilson. Maybe with an eye patch?

"This role is so OP!" - Please consider how you'd have to know exactly who was being visited each turn for the Sniper aspect to be considered OP. You burn an entire night getting up there, and if you come down, you have to burn another night going back up. You'd have to kill 2 people at least once and never miss for the killrate to really go up. The only thing it really hardcounters is metagaming "TP AND LO ON ME" type plays, as well as breaking protection loops.

"You can just kill everyone from the Sniper's perch!" - Untrue. A lot of roles don't visit. [Snipers CAN kill: Sheriff, Lookout, Investigator, Vigilante, Bodyguard, Doctor, Escort, Transporter, Witch.] [Snipers CANNOT kill: Spy, Jailor, Veteran, Mayor, Medium, Retributionist, Neutrals.] [Haven't made up my mind on NK roles yet in this regard.]

"Why does TP hardcounter Assassin on the ground?" - Because Assassin hardcounters TP from afar. It balances.

Gameplay for this role would actually be pretty smooth, and has a different strategy than the default Mafioso-type role. I feel that, if you think about its actual execution within a ToS game, it is balanced. Please feel free to tell me how to buff/nerf the role if you disagree, though.

The Mystic
Spoiler: Name: Mystic

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Enhance the abilities of your fellow Bratva members, or diminish the abilities of your foes.

Attributes: At night, you will be able to cast a spell on a player. If the player is not Bratva, the spell will roleblock them for the night. If the player is a fellow Bratva member, they will get a bonus that amplifies their abilities the following night, for that night only. You can only cast a spell on each player one time, regardless of faction. [The button for that player will literally disappear after it is used]

The role effects are as follows.
Brigadier- May have one immunity-piercing kill. [If Assassin is dead, Brigadier gets their power instead, because they function as an Assassin at that point]
Assassin- Uses a grenade launcher instead of a sniper rifle, killing the target along with all visitors! [Equivalent of a werewolf rampage]

Ventriloquist- Can use the puppet’s voice while somebody is on the stand (but not the puppet themselves) -OR- Can read their puppet’s will, but cannot modify it. [haven’t decided yet, leaning toward the latter]
Enforcer – Effects on target will last into the night cycle as well, and they will not be able to perform their role
Identity Thief - Target will not be able to speak in the afterlife
Deceiver- May frame two targets in one night.
Spotter – Will also see the roles of the visitors to their target
Informant – You can select two targets to investigate

If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Special Attributes: Unique, immune to roleblocks [as escorts/consorts are]

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results:
Sheriff – Your target is a member of the Bratva!
Investigator – Your target is skilled at disrupting others. They must be an Escort, Mystic, or Transporter!
Consigliere/Witch – Your target is carrying ancient runes. They must be a Mystic!

Skin/Avatar: Who could it be but Rasputin?

The Ventriloquist
Spoiler: Name: Ventriloquist

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: You may visit someone at night to sedate them and mimic their voice the following day.

Attributes (broken up for easier digestion): Can read whispers like a Spy/Blackmailer.
During the night cycle, you select a player to steal their voice for the following day phase. This ability can only be used 3 times.
Immediately following the death announcements, the Town will be notified: A Ventriloquist has stolen somebody's voice!

Use the Day Icon to switch between your voice and the voice of your Puppet.
Your Puppet cannot speak or vote for themselves during the day phase.
You cannot force your Puppet to vote, nor can you read their will. You can only use their voice.
The puppet's lost vote will not count toward the daily total [like they're not even there].

While somebody is on the stand, the Ventriloquist cannot use the Puppet's voice.
Your Puppet will only wake up if they are voted onto the stand, at which point you lose control of their voice and they regain their ability to speak/vote for the rest of the day phase.
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Goal: Kill everyone that will not submit to the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Special Attributes: Unique

Investigative Results: Investigator: Your target knows your darkest secrets. They must be a Spy, Ventriloquist, or Jailor.
Consigliere/witch: Your target is a skilled voice mimic. They must be a Ventriloquist.
Sheriff: Your target is a member of the Bratva!

Additional Information (comments): You are not immune to roleblocks.

Skin/Avatar: Some sort of evil-looking ventriloquist would do it. Puppet mandatory.

The Enforcer
Spoiler: Name: Enforcer

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Beat people until they are heavily concussed every night.

Attributes: Each night, you may select one target to beat mercilessly.
The target will receive the notifications “An Enforcer of the Bratva visited you last night!” and “You have a severe concussion!” [IMPORTANT: a Bodyguard will obviously fight off the Enforcer, and a Doctor will heal the player from the effects of a concussion]
During the following day cycle, the target will only see garbled text in their day chat box. [Only names at the start of each chat and in in-game actions will be legible; everything else will be scrambled.]
The target’s chat history will be cleared of everything before the start of that day, and they cannot access their will.
Anything that the target attempts to type will appear normal to them, but garbled to the rest of the Town.
The effects of the Enforcer will be reversed at the beginning of the night cycle, including restoring the chat history prior to that day and will access. [The day that was garbled will remain garbled in chat history, just everything prior to that day will be restored]
If you successfully visit the same player three nights in a row [concussion each time], they will be killed.
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Special Attributes: not immune to themselves, if witched or transported into it

Goal: Kill everyone that will not submit to the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results: Sheriff- Your target is a member of the Bratva!
Investigator- Your target is covered in blood. They must be a Doctor, Enforcer, or Serial Killer!
Consigliere/Witch- Your target beats people mercilessly. They must be an enforcer!

Skin/Avatar:: This kind of thing, sans bat.

The Identity Thief
Spoiler: Name: Identity Thief

Alignment: Bratva Deception

Abilities: Choose a person to clean at night and claim their role the following day.

Attributes: If your target dies their role and last will won't be revealed to the Town.
Only you will see the cleaned targets role and last will.
If lynched, your role in the Graveyard will appear as the first cleaned person’s role. [Your own Will still appears]
If killed during night phase, your role will show up as Bratva.
You may only perform 3 cleanings.
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Special Attributes: none

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results: Sheriff- Your target is a member of the Bratva!
Investigator – Your target works with dead bodies. They must be a Medium, Identity Thief, or Electrician.
Consigliere/Witch – Your target steals their victim’s role. They must be an Identity Thief!

Skin/Avatar: In my mind, I picture an Observer from Fringe. Taller, skinny, bald, suit with hat.

The Deceiver
Spoiler: Name: Deceiver

Alignment: Bratva Deception

Abilities: Choose someone to frame at night.

Attributes:
If your target is investigated they will appear to be a member of the Bratva.
If their target is lynched the following day, the target's role will appear as Bratva in the graveyard and their Last Will will be empty.
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Special Attributes: none

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results:
Sheriff – Your target is a member of the Bratva!
Investigator - Your target may not be what they seem. They could be a Deciever, Vampire, or Jester.
Consigliere/witch - Your target sets others up to take the fall. They must be a Deciever!

Skin/Avatar: The classic turtleneck look would do. More of a military hairstyle than this model, though. Black leather gloves on, too.

The Spotter
Spoiler: Name: Spotter

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Watch one person at night to see who visits them, or see who visits any member of the Bratva.

Attributes: Select one name to see which players visit them at night [Same as a Lookout], as well as any investigative results that they find. [you will not know who got what result]
Alternatively, select nobody to see who visits any member of the Bratva. [You will not know who was visited]
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Special Attributes: none

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results: Sheriff – Your target is a member of the Bratva!
Investigator – Your target sticks to the shadows. They must be a Lookout, Spotter, or Amnesiac.
Consigliere/Witch – Your target is holding a spyglass. They must be a Spotter!

Additional Information: Just like any lookout would, if you select someone that was jailed, you will see the Jailor’s name. ;)

Skin/Avatar: A Ghillie Suit kind of thing, maybe with binoculars draped around their neck?

The Informant
Spoiler: Name: Informant

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Investigate one person each night for a clue to their role.

Attributes: Each night, you may select one player to Investigate.
You will get the same results as an Investigator.
You will also see who your target visited that night, if anyone.

Investigator – Your target has sensitive information to reveal. They must be an Investigator, Informant, or Mayor.
Consigliere/Witch – Your target gathers information for the Bratva. They must be an Informant.

Skin/Avatar: I picture someone like John Constantine. Detective jacket, tie underneath.

All Investigator's Results (In Case You Wanted The Big Picture)
Spoiler: Tried to plug-and-play Bratva roles to their closest Mafia counterparts as much as I could so the game isn't radically altered. The only major changes were removing Vampires and Vampire Hunter in favor of adding Electrician and Parasite, as mentioned earlier. I also put Electrician in Retributionist's spot and lumped Retributionist with Survivor and Witch. This was to give Electrician a scum claim to fall back on. Anywho, on with the invest results!

Investigative Results wrote:Escort, Mystic, or Transporter – Your target is skilled at disrupting others.
Investigator, Informant, or Mayor – Your target has sensitive information to reveal.
Sheriff, Executioner, or Werewolf – Your target is waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Vigilante, Veteran, or Assassin – Your target owns weapons.
Lookout, Spotter, or Amnesiac – Your target sticks to the shadows.
Spy, Ventriloquist, or Jailor – Your target knows your darkest secrets.
Doctor, Enforcer, or Serial Killer – Your target is covered in blood.
Bodyguard, Brigadier, or Arsonist – Your target is not afraid to get their hands dirty.
Medium, Identity Thief, or Electrician – Your target works with dead bodies.
Survivor, Retributionist, or Witch – Your target keeps to themselves.
Deceiver, Parasite, or Jester – Your target may not be what they seem. (Note: You will also receive this message if your target was framed.)

Quick question:
This is meant as an alternative to normal maf, it can't exist in the same game as normal maf, right?
You can call me Bod.
No, that's not my real name. Thanks for asking.

soon we could have enough factions for a Faction Tournament
Check out my ideas:
My Guardian Faction
My Elemental Faction
My Spirit Faction
My Demon Faction

After agreeing that as Godfather id have my mafioso make food for me, here was a funny response.

Welp I can answer this for him I think, I may be wrong but we had this conversation in the Faction Development Thread. In ranked games, there could only be one faction. I believe we also agreed that the any couldn't be just like 1 mafia member if the Bratva exists, or cice versa. However, in all any, we could have whatever. Sure 7 mafia 8 bratva, or 14 mafia 1 bratva, but there can be any faction no mattter what. And I feel like a fun gamemode could be created that had a balanced mafia bratva town and maybe a neutral something. But as for ranked just one

The only reason i would win is I have edited/got the most feedback and managed to tweak my faction and I also started making it up earlier than most of the current faction ideas otherwise if all our factions were tweaked and balanced that would be a gr8 contest

Correct. It would substitute in for Mafia. Brigadier, Assassin, and 1 or 2 Random Bratvas instead of Godfather, Mafioso, and 1 or 2 Random Mafias. I'll add that into the description. (edit - just did)

Be critical, peeps. I wanna know where my areas of improvement are.

- The Bratva would substitute for the Mafia in a normal game.
- The roles in play would be Brigadier, Assassin, and one or two Random Bratva roles, just like Mafia in a normal game.

Edit History
Spoiler: 2/5/17: Minor text edits, newest version of Ventriloquist updated, additions to #AnythingElse?

Can't visit same person twice in a row.
Identity Thief - Janitor, but if they die, they appear to be the role they just cleaned the night before, like an old Disguiser. Still 3x only, I'm not a monster.
Deceiver - Framer, but if their target get lynched, the role appears as Bratva, their will is empty, and they can't talk in the afterlife until the next day
Spotter - Lookout, but you see any Investigative results that they were getting too, if any. Or can see who visits entire Bratva.
Informant - Investigator. Literally just an investigator, because Consiglieres are a little OP. You can rule out Bratva roles though, lol.

Will this be killed by bg? And i dont think that this is really helpful for that much? Who visits that would be effected by this? Killing, so you deny town death, investigatives, makes since i guess, protectives, no effect, supports, stopping from roleblocks? And how does this work with the transporter? Can you do this to the bratva? Then this is pretty strong, but if not then you will auto-confirm the player as nonbratva

Special Attributes: Night immune
Will show up as Not Suspicious to sheriff.Alright

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results:
Sheriff – Your target is not suspicious.
Investigator – Your target is not afraid to get their hands dirty. They must be a Bodyguard, Brigadier, or Arsonist!
Consigliere/Witch – Your target leads the Bratva with ruthless efficiency. They must be a Brigadier! Not about the bratva but what is this witch thing? I didnt see it so now they can see roles after controlling?

The Assassin
Spoiler: Name: Assassin

Alignment: Bratva Killing

Abilities: Carry out the will of the Bratva.

Attributes: The Assassin is skilled and can kill two different ways.
- Select a user on the left to stab them at night. [There are two rows of buttons, like a witch or transporter]
- A bodyguard can kill the Assassin and live [if they're protecting the target or self-vesting]
- A doctor will heal the target, but also see the Face of the Assassin! [their name]
Insta DEATH! Insta DEATH! Insta DEATH!!!
- Select yourself on the right side instead to climb into a Sniper’s Perch (no kills that turn) [NOTE: if you are not on the perch, your name will be the only one with a right hand button. After you are on the perch, the rest of the names will fill in to select the following night]
- The following nights, select a target on the right to shoot all who visit the target (including Town Protective)
- You may climb down from the perch to stab a target at any time, but must always forfeit a night to climb back up
Ooh a town protective sudo-hard counter, alright
Special Attributes: While on the perch, the Assassin has night immunity except to Vigilantes (because they have a gun). NK's don't climb the perch to stab/douse/rampage on them, but they will catch fire if already doused.
Alright so a sudo-night immune mafia killing with more diversity than the mafioso has. This is a bit too stronk if you ask me
Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

This isnt really a debuff. If you wanted to you could kill he jailor, but then the guy qho was jailed would be the automatic lynch because he is probably Bratva. But if you know the jailor is executing then you can kill. Then the jailor wont be so keen to control the Bratva

I'm pretty sure that jailors visit, but yea i agree here.
"Why does TP hardcounter Assassin on the ground?" - Because Assassin hardcounters TP from afar. It balances.
Umm... fine whatever

[The button for that player will literally disappear after it is used]Oh cool, a more powerful consort, i feel like there should be a limiting charge amount...

I do like how this can be helpful towards making the Bratva work together at least

If there are no kill capable Mafia roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Additional Information: The skin for this role would look like Rasputin! =D

I see a blackmailer who has the ability to make plays with little to no risk of himself. Like call somebody out, or you can "gamethrow" the controlled player, or just something along those lines. Otherwise, you can just do nothing. I do feel like this is equalled out pretty well by the 3 charges only. And how does this work for voting? Because if the guy can vote how he wants he can kind've ruin all of it. Then it becomes a debuffed blackmailer. But if you do control his voting, get this guy to the late game with 1 or 2 charges and gg.
While somebody is on the stand, the Ventriloquist cannot use the Puppet's voice.
Your Puppet will only wake up if they are voted onto the stand, at which point you lose control of their voice and they regain their ability to speak/vote for the rest of the day phase.
If there are no kill capable Mafia roles left, you will become an Assassin.
If the roles become assassins this is pretty strong. They can give themselves night immunity if the vig is dead, so then they are as good as a neutral killing. I think yoy ahould just have them turn into a basic version of the mafioso for the Bratva.

The Enforcer
Spoiler: Name: Enforcer
Hey I call that name already!
Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Beat people until they are heavily concussed every night.

Attributes: Each night, you may select one target to beat mercilessly.
The target will receive the notifications “An Enforcer of the Bratva visited you last night!” and “You have a severe concussion!” [IMPORTANT: a Bodyguard will obviously fight off the Enforcer, and a Doctor will heal you from the effects so you don’t receive a concussion]
During the following day cycle, the target will only see garbled text in their day chat box. [The first letter of each word will be correct, but everything else will be scrambled and nonsensical. Text will all be the correct color, though. I also don’t think that the rest of the words should be the same letters]
The target’s chat history will be cleared of everything before the start of that day, and they cannot access their will.
Anything that the target attempts to type will appear normal to them, but garbled to the rest of the Town.
The effects of the Enforcer will be reversed at the beginning of the night cycle, including restoring the chat history prior to that day and will access.I was like wow this is op, then I read this and now it basically does nothing except stall for a day. Can this person see voting? Can people see them vote? Can he see names that speak?
You cannot visit the same person two nights in a row.
If there are no kill capable Mafia roles left, you will become an Assassin.

If you die during the following Day or Night phase, your role in the Graveyard will appear as the last cleaned person’s role. [Your own Will still appears]
You may only perform 3 cleanings.
I think this is too unlikely to be a useful thing with the role showing up
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

The Deceiver
Spoiler: Name: Deceiver

Alignment: Bratva Deception

Abilities: Choose someone to frame at night.

Attributes:
If your target is investigated they will appear to be a member of the Bratva.
If their target is lynched the following day, the role will appear as Bratva in the graveyard and their Will will be empty. The lynched target will not be able to speak the night of their death.
If there are no kill capable Mafia roles left, you will become an Assassin.
So a framer with a whole lot more power... good because framer sucks and this seems balanced to me
Special Attributes: none

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results:
Sheriff – Your target is a member of the Bratva!
Investigator - Your target may not be what they seem. They could be a Deciever, Vampire, or Jester.
Consigliere/witch - Your target sets others up to take the fall. They must be a Deciever!

The Spotter
Spoiler: Name: Spotter

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Watch one person at night to see who visits them, or see who visits any member of the Bratva.
By or im assuming that if you select yourself then you get to see Bratva or who you visit you can see
Attributes: Select one name to see which players visit them at night [Same as a Lookout], as well as any investigative results that they find. [you will not know who got what result]
Alternatively, select nobody to see who visits any member of the Bratva. [You will not know who was visited]Oh yep, i was right
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Additional Information: Just like any lookout would, if you select someone that was jailed, you will see the Jailor’s name. ;)

The Informant
Spoiler: Name: Informant

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Investigate one person each night for a clue to their role.

Attributes: Each night, you may select one player to Investigate.
You will get the same results as an Investigator. [It’s a Bratva investigator. I think Consigliere being able to see their exact role is a bit needlessly OP]Tell that to the 80% win rate of town, knowing the exact role of someone isnt near as useful for the Bratva as it is for the town. No
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.

Special Attributes: none

Goal: Kill all who will not submit to the will of the Bratva.

Win Conditions: Wins with Bratva, Witch, and Survivor; Must kill Town/etc

Investigative Results: Sheriff – Your target is a member of the Bratva!
Investigator – Your target has sensitive information to reveal. They must be an Investigator, Informant, or Mayor.
Consigliere/Witch – Your target gathers information for the Bratva. They must be an Informant.

Sweet, as always i put comments in red, tell me what you think bro

Answers for you, Goose26!

Brigadier: Spoiler: - No, it does not get killed by BG; it nullifies the BG's visit
- It blocks anybody from visiting. That includes TI, TS, TP, TK, Bratvas, NK, Witch, whatever. Transporter included. Anybody that tries to visit loses a night.
- You can do this to Bratva as well. You can stop anyone from visiting any person (self included I guess)
- Yes, at some point, they made it so when Witch controls somebody, they get the Consigliere result for the person they control

Assassin: Spoiler: - Yeah, that's the idea. TP hardcounters Assassin on the ground, Assassin hardcounters TP from afar.
- I'm not super married to the partial night immunity honestly. It basically only protects from NK. Could get rid of it easily.
- How is not being able to Snipe the jailor not a debuff? Being able to take out the jailor by selecting a jailed Bratva member to snipe at would be horribly, horribly OP. Jailor does visit, yes, but for that specific reason, I made jailor immune to that particular death.

Mystic: Spoiler: - What do you mean by "limiting charge amount"?
- I like not just having another escort, lol

Ventriloquist: Spoiler: - I think it's balanced. Town knows that someone in the town has had their voice stolen, so the "day 2 executioner play" mentality could be in everyone's minds. Any "N4: Goose26 - MAF!" kinds of calls would be treated with suspicion. It affects the town's ability to collaborate without actually hurting it at all; it's all in their heads.
- Puppet cannot vote at all. Thinking about not having their vote count in the needed day total either. Not sure.
- Still thinking about taking away the partial night immunity from Assassin.

Enforcer: Spoiler: - How does it only stall? That person misses out on an entire day's worth of chat. They cannot talk, nor can they understand a thing. The chat from that day remains garbled. That entire day is basically a wash unless someone catches them up.
- They can see voting happen.
- Not sure about the names. Thinking those can stay.

Identity Thief: Spoiler: All I can really say is, you have access to the dead person's will, and your role shows up as what theirs was. You can definitely create doubt within the town if you're not obviously lying. I think it's more useful than Janitor.

Deciever: Spoiler: Framer DOES suck. This gives it teeth. lol, thanks

Spotter: Spoiler: I'm only worried about this role being useful. I want Lookout to not be so safe of a claim anymore. Did I buff this enough to be useful?

Informant: Spoiler: You think it should just be a straight Consigliere?

Would people be able to go around the Enforcer's ability by typing one letter ant a time eg. # 5 I S M A F ?

Jailor does visit, yes, but for that specific reason, I made jailor immune to that particular death. If you killed the Jailor it would be like when sk kills the Jailor, that guy gets lynched. So sure mafia gets jailed, shoot the jailor then you bratva member gets lynched next day, no?

Mystic: Spoiler: - What do you mean by "limiting charge amount"?
- I like not just having another escort, lol
Like janitor has 3 charges, then cant do his ability anymore. I feel like the mystic shoild be able to spam the assassin but he cant do it forever, so he has to ration his usage.

Not sure.
- Still thinking about taking away the partial night immunity from Assassin.Well put, I agree, but i still think that if you save this until last game you can bypass voting in general

Thinking those can stay.Personalpy, I vaguely look theough the day chat at night to check for scummy types of players. This guy keeps theough around stupid crap, this guy is an idiot in general, this guy is completely off topic, or this guy claumed the sheriff, this guy led the march against the godfather we lynched, etc. You can do all that in one night, so there isn't any problem with this, just bandwagon whoever everybody is voting for then catchup on info tonight, no problem.

Identity Thief: Spoiler: All I can really say is, you have access to the dead person's will, and your role shows up as what theirs was. You can definitely create doubt within the town if you're not obviously lying. I think it's more useful than Janitor. It is but i think that Janitor was a decently well balanced role in general, him and the consigliere. Mafia win rates go up with the janitor. The difference here is that without a medium all this does is take up claim space as people think this town guy died and was cleaned, this town guy died(The Identity Thief), and now there is no claimspace when there should be, and so scummy people die.

Deciever: Spoiler: Framer DOES suck. This gives it teeth. lol, thanks Sweet

Spotter: Spoiler: I'm only worried about this role being useful. I want Lookout to not be so safe of a claim anymore. Did I buff this enough to be useful?I think it is balanced. It can find the neutral killing, and you can find specific things like roleblockers, witches, or even potentially jailor

Informant: Spoiler: You think it should just be a straight Consigliere?Honestly, know I've been thinking about it, you can automatically rule out the bratva results, and as claimspace tightens you would most likwly be able to narrow it down to a specific role, so it is basically a nerfed consigliere. But I do feel like the consigliere was balanced as it was.

That's a point. Alright, the only unscrambled text would be names. I'll include that in the next update.

As for you, Goose26:
- I feel like taking a guaranteed shot at the jailor without knowing who it is is too OP.
- Spamming the Assassin with a Mystic buff is exactly what I was trying to prevent. I actually feel like this is my most balanced unique role.
- As for the Ventriloquist voting thing: here's something I typed for that Role Competition before crap happened: Spoiler:
BuckeyeNation wrote:Played well, this role would be incredibly disruptive. At the top of the day, the message appears immediately following the death announcements: A Ventriloquist has stolen somebody's voice! Town does not know who it is, so any calls of "N3:Goose26-mafia!" and such would be taken with quite the grain of salt; think "Executioner day 2 play" salt grains. Even if the Ventriloquist does nothing with the voice, any TI result claims make town more hesitant to act. It would create confusion throughout the entire discussion phase. Discussion phase is the most critical part of the game for Town. If Town does not decide on a course of action to follow until they try to implement a voting test on everyone to see whose voice is stolen, the Evils have already taken so much damn time and concentration from the town that I'd call that a win for the Evils. Waiting until voting phase to see who votes would be an enormous help for the Evils. Because not even everyone can vote someone up; only just more than half! Trying to do it systematically would take time; time that is already going by so fast in the voting phase, and for what, to find out whose voice was stolen? That's not even finding an evil! I doubt anybody would even bother doing so unless they were close to the LYLO number! And even then, all that time goes by in the voting phase, enormously helpful to Evils!

Not only that, but it would actually give Town a reason to be suspicious of Spy claims. Right now, Blackmailers that don't use their power are generally let to live until the end of the game because that role is so harmless, the risk/reward of lynching a Spy claim is skewed heavily in favor of Town. If Town doesn't know what the Random Mafia is and their numbers start to drop, they could be more motivated to put a Spy claim up on the gallows. Risk/reward at that point is less "Spy/Blackmailer" and more "Medium/Janitor", or "Doctor/SK". Right now, Spies have a very easy time in games because they're basically lynch-proof; this would bring a little bit more risk to the role, like every other TI faces (Sheriff claims, in particular, get lynched a lot). I would argue that making a Spy's seat warmer brings more balance to the game, as Spies are OP at the moment. [If nothing else, the sedated victim could be removed from the day's voting total, making it like they are not there. Honestly, that was a decision I thought was best left to the devs.]

Basically, I agree that a Ventriloquist COULD play it straight as a spy until the end. That is one strategy. That alone makes it much more actually useful than a Blackmailer. Blackmailers are usually let to live until the end unless Town has no other leads. This way, if they're getting close to the LYLO (Lynch or Lose) number and still don't know what the Random Bratva is, spies could actually be in danger. I don't think that is a bad thing.

- Victims of enforcer could catch up on chat how? Their text from that day would remain completely garbled. They'd just get everything from before that back. That entire day's chat would be a wash; they wouldn't see any roleclaims, any pasted wills, any accusations, nothing.
- Any suggestions for Identity Thief aside from making it a total Janitor clone? Maybe the ability to permanently claim a role from a Cleaned body? That was my original idea, but I deemed that too OP...

Edit: Made the changes. Took away Assassin's immunity on the perch, but gave them the ability to target themselves for Sniping visitors; made the requested change to Enforcer text.

If Town doesn't know what the Random Mafia is and their numbers start to drop, they could be more motivated to put a Spy claim up on the gallows.Desperation changes a man bro, and if we have a spy claim, a confirmed blackmsiker, it is already a thing to want to lynch his face Risk/reward at that point is less "Spy/Blackmailer" and more "Medium/Janitor", or "Doctor/SK". Right now, Spies have a very easy time in games because they're basically lynch-proof; this would bring a little bit more risk to the role, like every other TI facesNot if you are a sheriff that actually finds something. They get lynched becquse it is ususlly like n1 nothing n2 nothing n3... (Sheriff claims, in particular, get lynched a lot). I would argue that making a Spy's seat warmer brings more balance to the game, as Spies are OP at the momentI keep hearing this but i dont really have problems with spies, other than the idea they get confirmed, but no problems.

This way, if they're getting close to the LYLONobody would let a blackmailer live once they get caufht, automatic lynch. Sue if they also confirmed the gf then they would lynch the gf first but nobody just waits to kill any mafia member (Lynch or Lose) number and still don't know what the Random Bratva is, spies could actually be in danger. I don't think that is a bad thing.

- Victims of enforcer could catch up on chat how? Their text from that day would remain completely garbled. They'd just get everything from before that back. That entire day's chat would be a wash; they wouldn't see any roleclaims, any pasted wills, any accusations, nothing.I thought they got it back normal. Nevermind.
- Any suggestions for Identity Thief aside from making it a total Janitor clone? Maybe the ability to permanently claim a role from a Cleaned body? That was my original idea, but I deemed that too OP...Sorry but no idea

Edit: Made the changes. Took away Assassin's immunity on the perch, but gave them the ability to target themselves for Sniping visitors; made the requested change to Enforcer text.Sweet

Minor tweaks to how Identity Thief works.

BuckeyeNation wrote:Attributes: If your target dies their role and last will won't be revealed to the Town.

Also made it so that, with Ventriloquist, the Puppet's lost vote does not count toward the daily total.

Over 100 views! Wish people would actually comment though. -.-

Looking at ways to change Spotter and Informant to make them more unique, and give them a buff. Would these changes work? Changes are in red.

The Spotter - they will now be able to see all actions taken against their target, not just investigative results.
Spoiler: Name: Spotter

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Watch one person at night to see who visits them, or see who visits any member of the Bratva.

Attributes: Select one name to see which players visit them at night, as well as any investigative results or actions*. [you will not know who got what result]
Alternatively, select nobody to see who visits any member of the Bratva. [You will not know who was visited]
If there are no kill capable Bratva roles left, you will become an Assassin.
* So, for example, you would now see if the person was roleblocked, protected, jailed, etc, instead of just only investigative results. You still will not know exactly who got which result if 2+ people visit.

Additional Information: Just like any lookout would, if you select someone that was jailed, you will see the Jailor’s name. ;)

The Informant - you will now see who your target visited that night as well, if anyone.
Spoiler: Name: Informant

Alignment: Bratva Support

Abilities: Investigate one person each night for a clue to their role.

Attributes: Each night, you may select one player to Investigate.
You will get the same results as an Investigator.
You will also see who your target visited, if anyone.

I think this is pretty fair, but I feel like the spotter might be a bit overpowered. Since only 1 or 2 people will really only visit, he can really determine their roles. Like I understand that he might get absolutely nothing, but he can find sk, the jailor, etc

But the informant is completely fair if you ask me

Maybe spotter could be better balanced by allowing him to know some visits but not others. For example, he will see all visitors, but will not know if the target was attacked, protected or jailed. He WOULD know if they were invested or roleblocked or transed. That means he doesn't get any amazing payouts, but narrows down the possible options for visitors and gives him some more capabilities.

Well if he sees who visits and what happens according to the idea of only some people doing an action. He could still narrow down who that non-action guy was, and then he could think this is either jailor or vet or trans or something. Still bad

I'd say making this a new gamemode would be the best thing to do with this if it's implemented.

Nah, this would be a mafia replacement. A ranked game would have bratva OR mafia. Im sure new gamemodes would come out and they would be pretty sweet, but this is a mafia faction

Feedback noted. I'll keep Spotter the same, but give Informant the update.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback in the poll! Almost 200 views on this thread, though. Still only one page of posts. :| Why don't people want to critique or support?
