Name: Cultist (not Unique)

Alignment: Neutral (Killing) (maybe Chaos?)

Summary: An evildoer who sacrifices innocent souls to his cultic demons.

Ability:
- Night:
• If no ritual is being performed, chose a target to abduct and keep in your house.
• If the Soul stealing ritual is being performed, chose a target to convert into your puppet. The puppet will die if you die.
• If the Cursing ritual is being performed, you may chose 3 targets to kill tonight.
• If the Soul takeover ritual is being performed, chose a target. Should you get lynched, you will switch souls with them.
- Day:
• Sacrifice 2 souls, and perform the Demonic blessing ritual this night.
• Sacrifice 3 souls, and perform the Soul stealing ritual this night.
• Sacrifice 4 souls, and perform the Cursing ritual this night.
• Sacrifice 5 souls, and perform the Soul takeover ritual this night.

Rituals:
Spoiler: Demonic blessing ritual: If successful, you will gain detection, nigh and bite immunity. While performing that, you won't be able to chose any target.
Soul stealing: If successful, your target will become a puppet. A puppet is not a special role, the player will actually die (spiritually), but his body will be possessed. That means that, everyone (but the dead and Medium) will think he is still alive, however he won’t talk in chat. The puppet will repeat every vote his master (you) does.
Cursing: If successful, 3 evil spirits will be sent to your targets. They pierce night immunity, but can be stopped by a Bodygurad and Doctor. Veteran on alert and Werewolf on a rampage will scare them. Vesting wont stop them.
Soul takeover: If successful, should you get lynched, your target will die at the next night and you will take its place, but without any abilities or attributes. It won’t work if you die at night!

Mechanics:
• If the target is taken hostage, they won’t come out at day. Their name will still be displayed in the player list. No one will be able to talk, vote or interact (chose as target at night) with them.
• Hostages have a private chat to talk with each other. Cultist can see and interact with that chat only at night! They will see him as the “Cultist”. (like dead see Medium)
• Hostages may not edit their Last will. Nor will you see it, or what role they are.
• Hostages may not vote or perform their day/night abilities (except for the Medium, he can still talk with the dead).
• If a hostage is sacrificed, they will be found next morning dead in front of their house.
• Because the decisions to perform a ritual are made at daytime, jailing and role blocking won't stop it, however the ritual will end up unsuccessful.
• If the ritual is unsuccessful, sacrifices will still be made. That means the hostages will die.
• If you have more hostages then needed to sacrifice, the ones abducted earlier will die.
• You may be stopped by being jailed, role blocked or witched, if you are trying to abduct someone.
• If a Witch makes you target yourself to abduct or you are performing the Demonic blessing ritual, you do nothing. A Witch can’t stop a ritual, they will only change one of the targets, and it can be you yourself.
• All the rituals can only be attempted once in a game.
• Every time you abduct someone, you visit them. However, when targeting using any ritual, you use the help of demons and spirits, so you don't go anywhere.
• If the target you chose when performing the Soul takeover ritual dies before/with you, then you die!
• If you take over somebody, the hostages will get released.

Attributes:
• You may not perform two rituals in consecutive nights.
• You may talk anonymously with your hostages at night.
• Should you die, your hostages will get released.

Special attributes:
• Dies on getting bitten, unless has bite immunity.

Goal: Kill anyone that won't subdue to the cult.

Win condition:
Kill Town
Kill Mafia
Kill Neutral Killing
Kill Neutral Chaos
Win with Neutral Evil
Win with Neutral Benign
Win with Cultist

Investigative results:
Sheriff: “Your target is a Cultist.” (if you aren't detection immune)
Investigator:
If you have no detection immunity: “Your target is not afraid to get their hands dirty. Cultist/Godfather/Arsonist.”
If you have detection immunity: “Your target works with the dead. Retributionist/Cultist/Medium.”
Consigliere: “Your target performs rituals, they must be the Cultist.”
If you have switched souls with someone (Soul takeover ritual), then Sheriff, Investigator and Consigliere will get the same notification they would get for the role you switched with.

Notifications:
[spoiler]- on your side:
• The ritual has failed!
• The ritual was successful!
- on others side:
• You have been abducted by the Cultist. No one will hear you scream, you can only await your death.
- shown to everyone:
• The Cultist has possessed someones body! (when the Cultist takes over somebody)



Additional information:
Spoiler: • The abduction ignores all immunities.
• If you have no night immunity (and bite immunity), as a last man standing with another evil, you have the lowest priority (will lose against the Godfather, and even Mafioso. After you die, the Hostages are released as normal).
• If you have night immunity (and bite immunity), as a last man standing with another evil, you have the highest priority (will win against Arsonists and Vampires).
• Hostages don't count as obstacles when reaching your goal. (If they are the only survivors left, you win)


Explanation:
Spoiler: The role in a way is like the Arsonist. When you abduct somebody, they can survive if you happen to die. But unlike the Arsonist, if there’s another Cultist, he won’t be able to use your hostages as they will get released. Now the more interesting part: The role has a play stile you have to chose. On one hand, you may chose to play safe and become night and bite immune. On the other hand, you may chose to go aggressive and try the Cursing ritual to kill as many as you can. And if things are going south, you could perform the Soul takeover ritual. It’s a role that can be played in many ways, which makes it so much more interesting, don’t you think so?

Lore:
Spoiler: There is a man, who once was a member of the Cosmic People of Light Powers cult. But after years of aimlessly looking up, he finally looked down instead, all the way into the pits of hell. He then joined a demonic cult, which he would never leave. He got obsessed with the powers he could gain from his new masters. And in return they only asked one thing from him, human sacrifices, and a lot of them! In search of a good place to begin with, he found the mysterious town of Salem.

Firstly, All neutral killing roles must be immune all the time. I made cannibal, at first it wasnt but TG forced it. So you gotta do that or make it Neutral Chaos

i like this role, nice concept for a killer but it shuld get night immunity and bite immunity at all times, demonic ritual should give u detection immunity or something. (but . make it detectable by sheriff at all times until it gets 2 soulks)

Ok... I red your role, and it's pretty nice. Though it's very much like an exe that can speak as his target.
I know how it looks, but I swear I had begun this role few days ago in a word document, so I had the idea since then... I checked the file, 22/12 14:19 is when I created it :D

no I can't. you see, the idea is that you have 2 choices:
1. go safe and earn immunities.
2. go aggressive and and kill everyone as soon as possible (3rd ritual).

this way you have to make a difficult choice every game!

Keep in mind that TG staff rules are by no means Role-Idea rules - Testing Grounds is their own thing that has nothing to do with role implementation.

Also keep in mind that half of their rules are kind of goddamned stupid.

Huh, and you said on my role that bypassing the normal game mechanics (bypassing jailor) was bad. YOU HAVE PUT LYNCH IMMUNITY.

Also, 3 kills per night is too op.
It's a NK that can kill 3 people in 1 night AND converts? No thanks.

to kill 3 people in 1 night you need to successfully perform the Cursing ritual. To do that you need to take 4 men as hostage, survive till night 5, perform the ritual and hope you don't get RBd, jailed or witched.... And you can only attempt a ritual once in a game.... so yeah...

About converting, where did you see it convert somebody? It doesn't do that. Read the role...

That's actually a bad thing.


This role has too much ability. Lynch immunity, 7 kills on night 5... and it's not very difficult to avoid Town attention as long as you stay relatively quiet while ensuring that someone suspicious never dies.

What happens if you take like everyone hostage except for you and one person? Do you win even though they're still technically alive?

I just said the same thing about being hunted.

You got a point! Now that I think I remember thinking about being able to kill all your hostages, but thought it would be extra.

If you win by default (that is you need to have night immunity against killing roles) it makes things easier, but if you lose, the hostages get free and that person loses too?

I would love to hear your opinion. Maybe if you get killed the killer kills your hostages?

What if you took the Mayor hostage and die to Vigilante or Jailor?
I think they should all go free.

They do go free: "• Should you die, your hostages will get released." I meant, what if you get killed by Mafia or SK? Wouldn't they find the hostages in your house after killing you? (Unless its another mafia or something)

If you die by town or get lynched they go free 100%

Well, I mean what if Mafia was taken hostage along with some other people? I'd just let them go free no matter who kills them. What if the only hostages were a Janitor, Witch, and Survivor and the GF kills them all?
I think they should all go free.

Freeing your m8 mafia and killing others will make it obvious that the released is mafa I suppose. If so then, if you lose 1v1, they get released, but if the last one was mafia or NK, then they will get in trouble...
