Summary: You are a group of regular citizens of Salem who hope to rid the town of crime while also toppling the aristocracy.
Purpose: I've always liked the idea of having a second good faction. The Florae are a cool faction and have performed well in testing, but the implementation could have been improved. In particular, Florae roles are quite similar to Town roles. Both factions have a wide range of abilities and a relatively similar level of power. Many roles in one faction have slightly different versions in the other faction, and there are no real differences that would make a certain role appropriate for one faction but not the other. The Peasant faction will change this. It is designed as a second good faction, but with the key difference that Peasant roles are designed to be objectively weaker than Town, creating asymmetry that doesn't exist with Florae. Many concepts that are too weak for Town can work well as Peasant roles, and I will try to design Peasant roles that have distinct abilities from Town roles. Due to the difference in power, Peasant games will have a larger majority at the beginning, allowing the games to last longer. Games with both good factions will have a majority of Peasants with a smaller number of Town roles. In return, Town will win any situation where the only players left are Town and Peasants, which will also eliminate the slightly annoying tiebreaker situations that Florae experiences due to its symmetry with Town.
Alignments: PeasantInvestigative - Roles that can investigate players to gain information about their roles. PeasantProtective - Roles that are capable of protecting other players. PeasantKilling - Roles with the limited ability to kill other players. PeasantSupport - Roles that can support the faction in miscellaneous ways.
Mechanics: - Peasants do not know each other's identities at the beginning of the game, and they do not share a night chat. - All Peasants are informed of the number of Town members at the beginning of the game. They do not receive updates of this information as the game progresses. - All Peasants can be bitten by Vampires and lack natural defense. - Peasant roles appear innocent to the Sheriff and good to the Psychic. - Vigilante will not experience guilt after killing a Peasant. - All Peasant roles can be targets of the Executioner. In games where both good factions appear at the beginning, Town members cannot be the Executioner's target. - Peasant roles can be used by the Retributionist as if they were Town members. - If both Town and Peasants remain with no opposing factions, the Town will automatically win regardless of the number of each faction that remain. - If there is only one Peasant remaining at the beginning of the day with multiple opposing factions still alive, the Peasant will immediately commit suicide out of despair. This is to prevent kingmaker situations.
