Role Idea: Gambler- Neutral Evil

Postby Enigmatrix1 » Mon Jan 03, 2022 11:07 am

You are a drunkard who likes to bet on death.

Role Name:
Gambler

Role Alignment:
Neutral (Evil)

Abilities:
-Bet on two people every night who are most likely to be killed and/or lynched.

Attributes:
-If you win a bet, you are able to bet again the next night and also choose between being able to distract a player, or obtaining a self-heal.
-Distraction blocks a target from using their role’s night ability.
-Obtaining a self-heal gives you powerful defence when used.

Notifications:
-"You have decided to bet on X and Y." (you see this notification on the night when you are placing your bets.)
-"You do not have enough money to bet again tonight." (you see this notification on the night after you placed your last two bets and your last two bets were both wrong.")
- "At least one of your last two bets were correct!" (you see this notification on the night after you placed your last two bets and at least one of them was correct. You will receive a special menu interface during the first 7 seconds, prompting you to either distract someone that night or obtain a self-heal. The interface will disappear after 7 seconds. If you chose to obtain a self-heal, you can place your two bets like usual. If you chose to distract someone, you will first choose who you would like to distract and then you can place your two bets.)
- "You have obtained a self-heal!" (you see this message during voting time in the day if you chose to obtain a self-heal the previous night when your last two bets were successful.)

Goal:
Bet correctly three times.

Win Conditions:
Wins With: Town, Mafia, Coven/Witch, Survivor, Arsonist, Serial Killer, Vampire, Werewolf, Plaguebearer, Pestilence, Juggernaut.
Must Kill: N/A (three successful bets)
May Spare: Anyone else

Special Attributes:

Unique Role and Detection-Immune. Role-block immune when role-blocking a target.

Investigator Results:
Sheriff- You cannot find evidence of wrongdoing. Your target seems innocent.
Investigator - Your target could be a Gambler , Escort, Transporter, Consort or Hypnotist.
Consigliere - Your target takes risks and makes guesses for rewards. They must be
The Gambler.
Achievements:
It's My Lucky Day- Win 1 Game as the Gambler.
Royal Flush- Win 5 Games as Gambler.
Cash It In- Win 10 Games as Gambler.
Hit the Jackpot- Win 20 Games as Gambler.
Better Luck Next Time- Role-block yourself
Safety First- Be saved from dying by a self-heal.
Medical Supplies- Obtain 5 self-heals.
Fell for It- Successfully role-block someone 3 times in a game.

Additional Information:
-If you get at least one of your bets correct, you are able to distract someone the next night or obtain a self-heal and it will count towards your goal as a successful bet.
-Your first bet is towards who you think will be killed that night and your second bet is for who you think will be lynched the following day.
-If you get your bet correct when someone is killed but nobody is lynched, you are still able to distract someone the next or obtain a self-heal.
- If you are incorrect in both of your bets, you are unable to bet the next night and will not be able to distract someone the next night or obtain a self heal.
-If someone is killed but nobody is lynched and you bet incorrectly, you will still be unable to bet the following night.
-If nobody's death is announced the day after you placed your bets, both of your bets count towards the lynching.
-If nobody is killed or lynched the day after you place your bets, your previous two bets and the two bets you place the following night go towards the next day. if nobody dies during that next day, your previous four bets will be discarded and you will bet again the next night like usual.
-If the target you predicted would die was attacked but not killed, the bet does not count as being successful and will therefore not count towards your goal.
-Using a self-heal that you have obtained can be done on any night (unless you are jailed) regardless of whether your last bet was successful or not. You can not stack role-blocks but can stack self-heals.
-You CAN be role-blocked by a consort or escort, which prevents you from betting and from using a self-heal but will not prevent you from role-blocking someone.
- If you decide to obtain a self-heal, the self-heal will be given to you the day after the day your bet was considered successful. (eg: If you bet on two people on N2 and your bet was successful, you will be able to bet on N3 and given the choice of role-blocking someone the following night or obtaining a self-heal. If you choose obtaining a self-heal, you will obtain the self-heal on D4. If you choose to role-block a player, you can role-block them that night. You must say your choice within the first 7 seconds of the night.)
- If you do not choose either of the options listed above, when given the opportunity to do so, you will neither role-block anyone nor obtain a self-heal.
- The bets are astral visits and therefore cannot be detected by Spies, Lookouts or Trackers. However, when you role-block a player or use a self-heal, these visits are direct.
- You can be controlled by a Witch/Coven Leader which has no effect on your Powerful defence if you decide to use your self-heal. However, it can affect who you bet on and/or role-block.
- You cannot bet when you are dead.
-If you are jailed, you cannot place a bet and even if at least one of your last two bets were correct, the special interface will not appear that night. However, it will appear the night after that unless you are jailed again.

Lore:
The Gambler took another swig of whisky from his crude bottle and entered the dingy casino, red-eyed but happy. It was empty with the exception of a barkeeper and a few people playing cards . He staggered to his favourite arcade game, “The Ultimate Wager” and shoved his money through the small slit in the side of the machine. Immediately, he saw the faces of all the people of Salem on the screen. He picked the two he thought were most likely to be killed and lynched, before leaving the casino.

The next day, he discovered that his prediction of who was killed had been correct! The Mayor had revealed with nobody to protect them, resulting in their death by the vengeful Mafia. Nobody had been lynched, but the Gambler didn’t care. That night, he hurried back to the casino to collect his prize, 5 times the amount of money he had put in! After that, he placed two more bets and went to his local store. He debated on whether to use his beloved money to buy a medical kit to protect himself or a beautiful disguise to distract an unsuspecting victim. He finally chose the disguise and strolled to the Doctor’s house, smiling deviously. The Town wasn’t gonna be so lucky that night!

(PS: I am new to this forum and this is my first role in this subforum so I apologise if it is bad. This role is also on the Town of Salem fandom (still by me though of course), if some of you recognise it. Have a nice day everyone! :D )

I mean, it roleblocks people so I was thinking that would slightly hinder the Town. But thank you Wave for reading and commenting on this <3
