The Boilerplate
Spoiler: To start building this faction, we have to start with the actual faction itself. For the sake of what this faction is based on, I have decided to divide it into three sections:
Neutral (Saint)
God (Horseman)
God (Deadly Sin)
Neutral Saint will comprise of all the roles, for example plaguebearer, which once their goal is achieved, they become a God, continuing the example – Pestilence.

For sake of balance, only one God can be in each game, for ease this will be called “Godlike Unique”. Due to this – We can play with Investigator results, so here is my suggestion – At the beginning of the game, a random Investigator line is selected, and the God chosen (which there may be no God, and a random one is chosen) has their Saint added to the end of it – So the town know which God is in the game when they find this invest line, and it also cleans up every other result to not be cluttered with 11/12 Saints.

Example: Vig, Vet, Maf, Amb, Thought
If any of the roles get checked, Thought will be in that invest line (and no others)

An extra note, as a lot of these channel ideas from Pestilence and Juggernaut, the achievement “An Unstoppable Force Meets an Invincible Object” becomes a general achievement, and only affects the attacked and attacker with Unstoppable/Invincible attributes respectively.

Divergence
Spoiler: At this point, lines must be drawn, what makes a Horseman different to a Deadly Sin different to a Saint?
Saints start with little power, maybe basic defense and detection immunity. Their only goal is to become a god.

To become a God will either be a task based on completing certain actions multiple times and levelling up each time, similar to a Juggernaut, or based upon remaining town alive, similar to plaguebearer where you have to infect every living town member.
Saints that become Horsemen or Deadly Sins will have these tasks to become their God,
and then a win condition (most commonly, kill all who oppose you.)

There isn’t much to differentiate them from each other bar the names.
At this point, they gain Godly powers for attack or defense, with a special ability based upon what they were before. You may also notice that a lot of the different lore come from roles that already exist, which often influences the ability.

(Roles)
The Stain/War Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) /God (Horseman)
Abilities: Stalk a person at night
Attributes:
  • When you stalk a person, for the next two nights you can mark 1 extra person. Whoever your original target visits for these nights also get marked. At the end of the 3rd night, all marked are dealt a basic astral attack, except for your original target, who is dealt a non-astral attack.
  • If you get roleblocked in the process, all marks get lost, and you deal a powerful attack to whoever roleblocked you, and bloodies the will (Esc/Cons/Pirate/Jailor) (Rule of thumb: SK)
  • You can only stalk on full moons
  • 5 Kills makes you into War
    • You now kill all who visit you – bloodies the will
      • Only RBs stall your power
    • Attacks are now powerful
  • If The Stain gets marked, like the arsonist, you can stay at home the next night to avoid killing yourself (“Rewrite Plan”). This does mean if you get marked on the same night you attack, you will die no matter what.

The Crimson Stain. Infamous Serial Killer. Frequent to the local haunt. A monster.
What do we know? They pick up escorts, takes their pleasure, then strips them of life with their bare hands. Notice I say their, not even their gender is known to us, male and female victims have been found, disgraced. One thing makes The Stain different to other serial killers we’ve caught. They don’t target any fool – they carefully plan their targets nights in advance. Then, a massacre follows. Suffocating their target, dicing their friends, mangling their family – in one night. Without a trace. You could win a war with just this man. Or woman. We’ll see.

The Hood/Famine (Famine)
Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) / God (Horseman)
Abilities: Steal supplies, and give them to those who need it
Attributes:
  • At day, choose a person to drain supplies from. When night comes, this person will be roleblocked. The drain persists, but the role block is for 1 night.
  • At night, choose a person to give these supplies to, they will have 2 votes the next day.
  • Anyone who visits you becomes drained
  • Giving supplies to a drained person will stop them being Drained.
  • If you get RB’d giving, you cannot drain supplies the next day. (Like building / placing trap)
  • If someone has had supplies drained, they will have a marker next to them
  • Anyone a Drained visits will have their supplies drained (the original will no longer be drained, as they stole the food from whom they visited)
  • Every night, gain one token per Drained player.
  • At 8 tokens, become Famine
    • Drained players will still drain who they visit, but won’t stop being Drained
    • You can visit Drained people to make them Starved.
    • Starved players will be dealt an unstoppable attack after one night, unless they visit someone, transferring Starvation to them, and becoming Drained
    • Anyone who visits you becomes starved.
    • Gain basic Defense

Lore:
A skilled tracker. Seeing people go here – go there. Spending nights, following one person around. Why should this skill be wasted, Isolated? When you could follow everyone, anyone, anywhere, everywhere. And even then, you could take from one person, then watch where they go, and watch them start taking for themselves? And then you have a hoard, to give to whomever you choose! You could bring the town to its knees, make each person beg for their own life, turn on each other to prioritise survival. Famine will ruin them, make them primal again. And you could hide in the shadows, concealed by your hood. Watching like a Robbin’ Robin Hood.

The Weakness/Conquest Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) /God (Horseman)
Abilities: Steal power from those around you
Attributes: Every full moon, pick a player to Damn to Hell
  • Damned players will have their power weakened
    • Jailor – Gets told they were witched, failed Exe
    • Invest/Sheriff/LO/Spy/Tracker/PM(I) – results are BG/GF/Arso/NS/NV etc.
    • Psychic – One name in the vision is wrong
    • VH – They won’t kill Vamps who visit them
    • Vig/Framer/MK/ Esc/Cons/Hypno/PM(K) – Gets RBd (immune no notifs)
    • Vet/Dusa – Will only kill 1 visitor
    • BG – Won’t kill attacker, but will defend
    • Doc/Crus/PM(H) – Heal is Basic
    • Trapper – The trap gets broken, by random role
    • Mayor – They only get 2 votes when revealed
    • Med – They cannot seance once dead
    • Retri/Necro – The body used is weakened
    • Trans – You transport all bar one visitor
    • Disguiser/Forger/Consig – is BG/GF/Arso every time.
    • BMer – Can’t see whispers next day
    • Amne/GA/Surv/Exe/Jest – No effect. Mercy be had.
    • Pirate – They lose the duel
    • PB/Arso/Hex/SK/Pois – Hits themselves (PB stays home)
    • Vamp – Vote for attack doesn’t count
    • WW/Jugg – Rampages at home (doesn’t hit Weakness)
    • Witch/CL/Jani – They don’t get told the role/will
  • Damned players won’t know they're damned.
  • Once half the alive town is damned, you become conquest

The poisoner wasn’t taking the news well. They had been banished from the coven.
But they had a few more tricks in their sleeve. Stole the Necromancers staff, and the Necronomicon.
Now they were going to damn them all to hell! Show them what it feels like to be weak! This town won’t be able to stand once they were done with. Conquest will take those cracks, and pull them apart. Down with the coven, and all else who doesn’t accept the cause!

The Warrior/Wrath Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) / God (Deadly Sin)
Abilities: Choose a target to watch at night
Attributes:
You will kill your target – or anyone attacking your target
For each kill, you will increase by a level
  • L1 – Basic Attack / No Defense
  • L2 – Powerful Attack

  • L5 – Become Wrath (Rampage)

The Pander/Lust Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) / God (Deadly Sin)
Abilities: Find two people of the same interests, and make them lovers
Attributes:
  • Each night, check two people.
    • If they share interests (Same faction / Win cons) they become lovers
    • Otherwise, nothing happens.
  • Neither player gets told of their other lover, they just get told that they now have a lover in their faction
    • This encourages the two to talk at day to find out that they’re the same faction, but also others can fake claim to cause confusion. There could also just be multiple lovers created (given other lover influencing roles)
  • For each lover, develop new powers (This includes lovers who have died)
    • Start with the ability to create a pair of lovers at night
    • 2 Lovers – You can see the pairs of lovers (Whether you made them or not)
    • 4 Lovers – New lovers no longer get told they have a lover
      • + Powerful Def
    • 5+ Lovers (or 100% town) – Become Lust (Any two people can become lovers)
      • + Invincible Def
    • If all players alive are lovers, you can deal a powerful attack to them, killing their lover as well
  • If a player is the only role in their faction, they can be matched with anyone

Lore:
Salem. A town with a small population, that all of them call home. You think with so few people, it’d be happy and friendly? Oh no. Mafia infiltrated us early. Laid their roots, forged into a tax haven for themselves. No one cares about each other anymore. The only friends you have here, are the enemies of your foes. Someone had to change that, for better or worse.
Sally. The one who will do it. She would find people and people, and if those people could stand each other, she’ll make them happy. For better or worse.

The Webslinger/Sloth(+Black Outline)(Webslinger / Sloth) Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) / God (Deadly Sin)
Abilities: Web someone up at night
Attributes:
  • Your webbing action has lowest priority (you’re lazy)
  • When webbed, your target cannot talk or vote in the day.
  • They will stay webbed for 2 nights, at which point they automatically unweb themselves
  • They will become unwebbed if they are either voted or visited while webbed (Doesn’t include the night they were initially webbed)
  • You may take a webbed player and web them a 2nd time to kill them with an basic attack
  • Every night, gain a token per webbed player
  • Become sloth at 7 tokens
    • All currently webbed players are dealt a basic attack
    • Your double-web attack is now Unstoppable
    • Anyone who visits Sloth gets webbed, with highest priority
      • All attacks are stopped unless astral/RB immune

Lore:
If you told Edward Bishop that the world would come to a point where he would turn his back on it and take the law into his own hands at night – he would believe you. He was a vigilante after all. Until the Escort met with him, then he saw how people wasted their time, stopping a man saving the world, and letting an innocent doctor get killed by the hand of the woman he would shoot. No more. Everyone will be left in their own homes to suffer. They would waste their lives away to sloth. He’d make sure.

King Midas/Greed (+Brown Outline, coin colours) Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) / God (Deadly Sin)
Abilities: All that you touch turns to gold.
Attributes: Convert people to gold at night, at risk of converting yourself.
  • Each night choose to visit a person. They will be dealt a powerful attack. They are also Gilded (Same as stoned, role and will hidden)
  • If your attack fails, you will turn a part of yourself to gold.
    • This includes being Roleblocked, Witched, target defended or having defense
  • Due to greed, you must attack every night. If you don’t pick a target, the game will auto choose one for you
  • You will become greed if you successfully attack someone 3 times
  • You will also become greed if you fail attacking someone 3 times,
    • Your attacks are now unstoppable
    • You have powerful defense
    • Anyone who visits you will turn to gold
    • If you fail two attacks as Greed, you deal an unstoppable attack to yourself. You will still be Gilded
Notifications:

Lore:
If you wanted to know what would happen if Medusa turned someone to stone at the same moment the pirate plundered them, and the Coven Leader drained them? Well, it goes along the lines of everything goes badly. Very fast. The pirate gets turned to stone by the medusa, his gold coins spilling out of his hands as he realises what happens and tries to make a runner. The Coven Leader imbues the target with magic, the medusa targets her magic at the target, and it reflects off, bouncing off a coin, and striking the medusa. The power from the Coven Leader on the target then gets super charged and unstable, killing both of them. Everything going very wrong. But – there was a survivor. The medusa, with a hand turning to gold, realises all that has happened, and takes advantage of it. She uses her newfound power, turning all she loves to gold, but with the greed comes stupidity, and so comes loss, and so comes madness. She forgets herself. Takes a new identity. Now everyone will know him as King Midas, the mad man of Greed. Powerful, oh so powerful. But with any misstep, the world comes crashing down. Balance is a careful, beautiful, dangerous thing.

The Cannibal/Gluttony Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) / God (Deadly Sin)
Abilities: Cook yourself a soup, spiced with everything right.
Attributes: In the day, choose a person to question at night.
  • You will ask them what to add to your soup out of Meat, Spice or Vegetables
  • You pick two, the target picks one. If they pick one that you picked, you will deal a powerful attack and add the person to your soup
  • You will gain different powers based on who was put into the soup last
    • Jailor / GF / CL / Jugg -> An ace in the hole. Unstoppable attacks, Detection Immunity and Higher Defense!
    • Invest / Sheriff / Psy / Consig -> A hunger for knowledge. The next night, choose a 2nd target to learn the role of (Consig)
    • LO / Spy / Tracker / BMer -> You can cover your tracks. Visits are Astral!
    • TK / MK / Poisoner (- Jailor & GF) -> You study your kills thoroughly. Kills are Unstoppable!
    • TP / GA / Surv -> Safety is above all else. Gain a level of Defense!
    • Escort / Consort / Hypno / Pirate -> Distractions aside. Anyone visiting you thinks they were RB’d
    • Medium / Retri / Forger / Jani / Necro -> A master over death. Kills are cleaned!
    • Framer / Hex M / Arso / Disg -> Knowing the evil craft helps you hide. Gain detection immunity!
    • Amne / PM / Vampire / Mayor -> A wild card. Take the ability of the last 2 kills!
    • Trans / Medusa / WW / SK -> You can handle many people at once. Gain Rampage!
    • Exe / Jest / Witch -> You’re efficient at getting others to kill for you. The next night, choose a 2nd target to control! (You do not get informed of their role)
  • Once you have killed 3 people, you shall become Gluttony
    • You have the power of the last 3 people you killed in your soup, rather than just the last.
    • You gain basic defense ("Higher Defense" will increase to Powerful)

  • A feast - 10 wins
  • A banquet - 25 wins
  • Overpowering flavour - Have 4 or more powers at once (Wild card + Gluttony)
Lore:
Skullbeard wasn’t the only one to survive the wreck. World’s Wench, marooned at the cliffs. The chef washed up a few days later. But they weren’t in a good shape. There was another survivor, but they knew only one would make it. And they were not only not winning in a fight, but they were also delicious. Wonder if everyone is as tasty? Only one way to find out. But there is one thing – very dry food. Would only work in something like a soup, with a few extra pieces to add flavour. Time to get cooking. This gluttony shall be satisfied eventually, right?

The Celebrity/Pride Spoiler: Role Alignment: Neutral (Saint) / God (Deadly Sin)
Abilities: Get stronger with more fans
Attributes: Choose a person each night to give an autograph – they become a fan
  • 2 Fans – Anyone who visits you becomes a fan
  • 3 Fans – Powerful Def

No one can get enough of celebrities, so when one decided to move into Salem, everyone was shocked. So shocked, that nothing happened to them. The Mayor didn’t bribe them to town, like the last five amnesiacs – The Mafia didn’t blackmail them into joining them – Not even the Coven dared touch them. They were the towns pride. But it would never last, they didn’t take a side. But no one wanted to hurt them, so the celebrity single handed brought Salem to a stand-still. And stood there. With pride.

Some of these have a description that doesn’t tell you what to do. They are unlocked by the following
(1) Receive the warning of a Saint about to become a God
(2) Finish a game with no God, after being warned of a Saint almost becoming a God
(3) Finish a game having Hung an innocent player you found as In Doubt/Guilty
Additional Information:
  • For any Custom roles not covered, ask the creator if possible
  • Otherwise, judge it as Killing/Evil act/Innocent or Insane

Lore:
Gods play der game of chess in dis minute world, wreaking havoc on der pawns, and making der kings fear for der lives; Balance was a thin thing. As each person claimed dat each person claimed dat each person was evil, Trust wore thin too.
And so I came. Someone had to balance da world, bring dos to justice dat needed it, and keep every person protected from doom on da horizon.
Dis is my town now, and no way any gods are gonna screw with it.

The Niran
Spoiler: Role Alignment:Neutral(Chaos)
Abilities: Channel divine energies
Attributes:
  • You may select a player at night to Either:
    • Purge a player of all removable effects (One use)
    • Swap the effects on two players (2 night cooldown)
      • You cannot choose which effect will move, just who to move from and to
      • You cannot move effects to/from the dead. Decayed body markers will show however
    • Provide one effect of your choice (One use)
      • This can be used strategically for GA heals, or Poisoning/Dousing
  • Passive – You will see where every marker is, not what it is.
    • This includes Douse, hex, Poison, GA protection, God’s markers
    • This excludes Exe Target, GA target, Necronomicon, Mayor
    • You will not see markers change unless changed by you.
  • You cannot target a revealed mayor

  • You:
    • You decided to purge X tonight
    • You decided to swap the effects of X tonight
    • You’ll swap them with Y tonight

Eternal damnation. Made to spend in a mortal body, ensuring other mortals live as long as possible. Pitiful. Niran were supposed to enjoy their heavenly bliss, ignorant to the needs of whining little humans. But the alternate was worse, so this is what life is now. Eternal damnation, trapped at a singular point in time – watching the Salem witch trials, inflicted with mafia, over and over and over. Never ending. Watching every person enact different strategies, occasionally other divine beings coming and playing their fun. I’ve seen Angels, Gods, even Pipetron. All coming to poke their fun at me I bet. Well, not exactly much I can do about it now, other than serve my sentence. For all eternity. You never know, this place might be a place I can call home after a while. My little Town Of Salem.
