THE SHAMAN (TOWN PROTECTIVE)

Role Name: Shaman


Role Alignment: Town Protective

Abilities: At night, choose to either bless or curse someone.

> Curse (3 uses)
- any players with negative actions (consort, escort, framer and the like) who will visit the cursed player's house will get turned away, making their supposed action unsuccessful.
- direct attacks will still go through.
- you will know how many players visited your target.

> Bless (2 uses)
- the blessed player will be protected from any form of attack, but you will have to keep on blessing this player to keep them from dying.
- you will replenish your blessing every time you bless someone from death.

Attributes:
- None.

Special Attributes:
- None.

Additional Information:
- Essentially, blessing an attacked player means that you will have to keep blessing them, or they will die the next night.
- In theory, blessed players who are attacked will still live through other attacks, provided that you did bless them.
- And yes, although cursing a player would be more detrimental to the Town, it can be especially useful in cases to prevent, say, a Consort from roleblocking a Jailor.

Investigative Results:
Investigator: Your target could be an Escort, Consort, Transporter, Hypnotist or Shaman!
Sheriff: Your target is not suspicious.
Consigliere: Your target works with good and evil, they must be a Shaman!

Goal: Lynch all criminals and evildoers.

Win Conditions: Usual Town win conditions.

Lore: TBA

I'm not sure why it needs to be a daytime ability, it could work just fine as a night ability

This is an interesting ability though I think it should be tweaked a bit. Perhaps cursing someone only prevents all negative affects other than attacks. For example, it would turn away a blackmailer/consort/escort/janitor/forger/witch/arso? as they have an actual negative effect but it would not turn away a framer/consig/ambusher/hypno or any other town role as they do not have a negative effect? Just an idea to make it more helpful to town.
The 3 uses is good, maybe two would be more balanced but it's probably not much of a difference as one is wasted if nobody visits your target anyway.

I like that it has a weaker heal ability to balance out being able to prevent visitors as well though I don't think it should be limited. The Shaman should have unlimited Blesses.

I don't think this role needs to be unique, it seems like multiple would not be too powerful as to warrant it.

A consort cant roleblock a retributionist :P
A better example would be stopping a Consort from roleblocking a Jailor

Consigliere: Your target works with good and evil, they must be a Shaman!

That invest result is probably fine though with its ability to group RB it might fit better under Esc/Trans/Consort/Hypno/Shaman. I'm not great with invest results though so take that with a grain of salt.

this is actually a great idea! I'll change it up :D

well technically the Shaman can have unlimited blesses so long as they keep blessing the player who got attacked, I think that the player will have a double-take on who to actually bless just like how a Doctor would think twice before losing a heal on a player who wouldn't even be attacked. I also want it so that the Shaman will actually curse a player, because once the Shaman has blessed a player from dying, the chances of the Shaman cursing over prolonging their target's life becomes exponentially low.

Ah I was just assuming that it could do both at the same time. So if I understand you right you want the heals to be limited so that the Shaman will curse until they think someone is worthy of protecting every night?

I agree with pretty much all of Jay's critiques

With all that being said, this is a really cool role that is both A unique, B interesting & C fucking cool while also being D not too complicated and E strategic.

I was actually thinking to make it so that cursed players who are attacked will die the next night instead of the present night, so that both abilities have some sort of protective attribute, seeing that this is a TP ;0 would it be a good change?

Essentially, what would happen is that say N2 I curse John the Doctor, some framer and witch get turned away, and a Mafioso got a hit on the Doctor.

You have been stabbed by a member of the Mafia!

A Curse have made you undying for this night only, you will die the next night if left untreated!


and so what would happen is that the Shaman can then Bless John, so there's a synergy between both abilities.

What do you think?_?

Shamans have control over the elements such as Lightning, Earth and Fire. They don't curse or bless people
