- You still identify members of the Mafia and Serial Killers plus Full Moon Werewolves as Suspicious.
- In addition to this, you will receive one of the following messages.

"Your target seemed certain on staying home." - Your target was a non-visiting role. (Non-Alert Veteran, Mayor, Medium, Survivor, Executioner, Jester, Werewolf on a night without a full moon, non-Youngest Vampire)

"Your target seemed to want to stay discreet." - Your target was a visiting role which does not provide feedback to its target. (Investigator, Lookout, Sheriff, Spy, Bodyguard with no attacker, Doctor with no attacker, Retributionist, Disguiser, Forger, Framer, Janitor, Consigliere, Amnesiac, non-self targeting Arsonist)

"Your target seemed willing to make themself known." - Your target was a visiting role which provides non-lethal feedback to its target. (Escort, Transporter, Doctor with an attacker, Hypnotist, Blackmailer, Consort, Witch)

"Your target seemed willing to kill." - Your target was a role with a Basic or stronger attack. (Jailor, Alert Veteran, Vampire Hunter, Vigilante, Bodyguard with an attacker, Ambusher, Godfather, Mafioso, Serial Killer, self-targeting Arsonist, Werewolf on a Full Moon, and Youngest Vampire

"Your target seemed to be held up by something." - Your target was roleblocked, and not Roleblock immune. This overrides all other messages.

PRO - Gives Sheriff a sort of information that the Investigator doesn't get.
CON - The non-lethal feedback bracket seems a little skinny.
I know what I'm doing, generally, but I have no grace at all when things start to spin out of control.

I'd like to address the latter part, but I wouldn't know the first thing about that.

This just seems like an alternate set of Investigator results that players would have to memorize if they want to fakeclaim Sheriff. The results are way bigger and still have significant doubt as to whether someone is good or evil, so the role would be far weaker than Investigator.

Sheriff is arguably the most basic role in Mafia. You pick someone and see if they're good or evil. This is quite powerful in ToS, which is why MD roles and detection immunity exists. If you want to buff Sheriff, remove or at least limit detection immunity.

My position is that it's at least a different set than Investigator.

If you wanted to make it simpler, you could make it sterile and boil it down to "Your target is a non-visitor", "Your target is a silent visitor", "Your target is a non-silent visitor" (or fold those both into "visitor"), "Your target is a killer", and "Your target was roleblocked".

Throwing out Sheriff completely seems like overkill considering that it doesn't solely exist to attack something that shouldn't be possible in the first place, but I'm not really sure of what would be good to do with it. It's boring and that's a problem, but it does do something.

It'd probably be weird to make it convert itself into a Lookout if there are no roles left that aren't Detection Immune. I'm also not really a fan of being a Lookout, but at least in that case it's not doing literally nothing.

What’s wrong with just limiting detection immunity? Turning sheriff into an alternate investigator seems overkill.

I dunno. This one wasn't particularly thought out.

Even less so than that stupid Neutral Killing that deals Unstoppable Astral Attacks, but only if it can correctly match its target to their role that I never posted because it's just a worthless Death Note riff.

I don't think that Sheriff needs a buff

Especially not one that turns it into a Spy/Invest combo
