The Upright and Reversed (Neutral Chaos)

Role Names:
The Upright and The Reversed

Role Alignment:
Neutral (Chaos)

Abilities:
Shared Abilities:

Once every night, you can attempt to Cleanse. If you use Cleanse on your counterpart, you will deal a Powerful attack to them. If you use Cleanse on anyone besides your counterpart, you will do something depending on what your role is.
You will learn one player that is not your counterpart every night. Anyone you have checked will not be shown.

The Upright's Ability:
If you Cleanse someone that is not your counterpart, you will heal, purge, and disinfect them for the night.

The Reversed's Ability:
If you Cleanse someone that is not your counterpart, you will force them to not use their ability and lower their attack by one stage for two nights (Players' attack stat can only be lowered once.)

Attributes:
Powerful Attack.
Invincible Defence (except against counterpart).
Unique.
One must spawn with another in the game.

Notifications:
User:
You have decided to Cleanse [Target].
You have instead decided to Cleanse [Target].
You have successfully ridden the Town of the Upright! Congratulations! (When Cleansing the Upright.)
You have successfully Cleansed the Town of the Reversed! Congratulations! (When Cleansing the Reversed.)
The Upright/Reversed has been lynched! Congratulations!

Targeted:
The Upright/Reversed has found you! You have lost!
You were lynched while the Upright/Reversed was alive. You have lost!
You were forced to stay home by the Reversed.
You were purified by the Upright.

Spy:
Your target was forced to stay home by the Reversed.
Your target was purified by the Upright.
Your target was cleansed by the Upright/Reversed.

System:
[Player] was cleansed by the Upright/Reversed.

Goal:
To Cleanse the Town of the Upright/Reversed.

WinCon:
You must kill the Upright/Reversed.
You may spare anyone else.

Investigative Results:
Sheriff - You cannot find any evidence of wrongdoing. Your target seems innocent.
Investigator -
Upright: Doctor/Disguiser/Serial Killer/Potion Master/ Upright
Reversed: Escort/Consort/Transporter/Hypnotist/Reversed
Consigliere -
Upright: Your target radiates righteousness. They must be the Upright!
Reversed: Your target festers in immorality. They must be the Reversed!

Special Attributes:
Astral
Roleblock Immune
You will kill anyone who attempts to control you.
Amnesiacs will not be able to remember you.
The Jailor can execute you.

Yes, I know the post is old, but imma bump cause idc.

Also, I've buffed both of the roles so they're actually useful (wow such amazement)

Upright now purges and disinfects, while Reversed forces your target to not use their ability.

Unique, kind of like two Executioners that need to find their target and kill them at night

One issue I see is that, being the Reversed is objectively worse than being the Upright

As the Upright, nobody except the Reversed will want to kill them

As the Reversed, you're actively disrupting the Town and other factions, meaning if you're found by an Investigator/Consigliere they'll want to immediately out you

I think the Upright shouldn't have Astral visits nor control immunity while the Reversed should; it'd give them a bit of edge over them

Also purging will be super annoying for Arsonists and Plaguebearers(purging disinfects by default), I think it should just be a heal or something else

The fact that Upright is more town sided did come to me during the making of this role, but I thought that the Reversed could be used as a better escort. Probably should remove the frame though.

As for the purge and things, it gives more enemies to the Upright, which seems to be the main problem. I wanted the roles to be more than just Doctor and Escort.

So upright is a powerful defense(heal) and reversed is a roleblock followed by a 2 night attack weakening.

I like the idea of this, it has great potential and even in this simplistic form it works... To an extent, the issue is trying to account for random kills, what happens when your counterpart dies from a killer? Do you win just because you survived? It feels kind of cheap as theoretically you can allign yourself with anyone, as upright you will protect them, as reversed you will roleblock people they fear while they do the killing, as long as your counterpart dies you have little concern for what happens in the game and that is the thing that needs to be addressed with such roles, with executioner they turn into jester, with guardian angel they turn into a no vest survivor, so what would happen here?

That needs to be established, but aside from that I like the idea.

No one can kill the Upright and Reversed except for their counterparts and the jailor. This way, the only ways to get rid of your target is to either vote them out, have them executed, or find and kill them.
