Sheriff(Buff/Balancing)

Postby cob709 » Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:13 pm

So sheriff used to be more specific and powerful, they were able to get messages like "Your target is a member of the Mafia!" or "Your target is a Serial Killer!".
But that was nerf'd down to "suspicious/not suspicious(innocent)".
It seems like the problem was that sheriff was too powerful against NK roles.
Though, reducing it all the way to "suspicious/not suspicious" feels too boring, it's time for a buff.

Sheriff Buff:
The sheriff will learn the primary alignment of their targets.
Notifications:
"Your target's primary alignment is Town."
"Your target's primary alignment is Mafia."
"Your target's primary alignment is Coven"
"Your target's primary alignment is Neutral."
Deception Interactions:
If the player is hexed, their primary alignment will appear as Coven
If the player is framed, their primary alignment will appear as Mafia
If the player is infected, their primary alignment will appear as Neutral
If the player is doused, their primary alignment will appear as Neutral

*Note: If multiple conditions apply, the priority goes from top to bottom.
*Example: Target is doused and framed. The sheriff will see "Mafia"
Exceptions:
The Godfather's primary alignment will appear as Town.
The Necronomicon possessor's primary alignment will appear as Town.
This may seem like it becomes overpowered and similar to the old sheriff, but it isn't. I balanced the more specified information by creating more deception.
This might seem like the old sheriff, but that's not true. The old sheriff used to be able to specify the difference between a WW and an SK. This problem is solved by preventing the sheriff from knowing the difference between a NE and an NK role.

Problem with this would be that most Neutrals in ranked show as Town regardless so a Neutral result would only mean SK or doused. If there's an SK they're outted. If there's an Arsonist, it confirms them as doused due to the Arsonist showing as Town.

Arosnist/WW/SK will not show as Town.
The sheriff will know their primary alignment is Neutral, it does not appear as Town.

All this does is change it so that if the sheriff finds a neutral role, the Jailor executes it. This makes it even harder for Jester to make themself look like mafia.
