Flanker - Town Killing

Postby JacksonVirgo » Sun Jun 28, 2020 12:26 am

Role Name: Flanker
Role Alignment: Town Killing

Ability: Each day you may select a player, if they are attacked the night after you may shoot a player the following night.

Attributes:
  • There is no other consequence for shooting Town, except a Town death.
  • The shot has the same priority/attributes as a Vigilante shot.

Example:
Day 1: Select John Proctor.
Night 1: John Proctor dies by Mafia
Day 2: Select Ann Sears
Night 2: Gains a shot because of N1/D1.

Unsure if this would work but it's a different killing role than Vigi/Vet and would need to actively read the town etc to get some kills in. Lemme know

So I'm assuming the Flanker has the same stats as a vigilante(basic attack).
This seems incredibly overpowered to me.

Okay so, if I understand correctly, the Flanker has a night and day ability. If the Flanker correctly predicts who gets attacked, then they get a charge to use at night.
Same thing as vigilante, can't choose N1 so that's good. But the problem is, the Flanker can have infinite attacks without any consequences. If the Flanker simply shoots the person they selected during day, they will recycle the bullet over and over again, and nothing can stop them.

Example:
D1: Flanker predicts the attack of [Player]
N1: [Player] dies, the Flanker gets +1 charge.
D2: Flanker predicts the attack of [Player2]
N2: Flanker shoots [Player2],the Flanker gets +1 charge.
Repeat D2 and N2

So after predicting one attack, they get infinite shots and aren't punished for shooting a townie. This would be way too powerful as they could either kill every townie and game throw, or they can random shoot until they win.

Haha yes, that exploit should definitely be plugged.

Other than that, though, I think this role is a little bit underpowered (and maybe too similar to Vigilante as well).

I seriously thought I wrote in the OP that it only works with scum-kills but I completely forgot. Yeah this is exactly what I thought when writing the role and thought I wrote that in it. Thanks for reminding me though :D

I was trying to make a more skill-based TK role that can be more powerful than the Vigilante if used well but weaker if not.

I don't think you pulled off the "more powerful than Vigilante" part.

Even if you guess right every single time, it's unlikely that you'll have a good use for more than 3 shots, and hitting a townie sucks even if you don't suicide as a result.
