Aside from that, there's a steady influx of newbies who think that posting here with something not-terrible will actually get it added to the game. This is still the official place to propose role changes, after all, and most new arrivals don't think to check if there's already a huge backlog of not-terrible ideas that haven't been implemented.

Newbie here, can confirm that I just do it for fun lol, I think it's cool to see other people's thoughts on my ideas, I don't actually think they'll be added to the game tho lol.

Think of it like a filter system. Since most good ideas already exist, harshness naturally grows stronger because most (semi)experienced balancers know that once a fundemental idea of a role is unbalanceable, it's always better to scrap it than try to hang onto it, plus they've seen the same recycled bad idea hundreds of time, so it's logical to get mad seeing someone propose it again. Of course, this will naturally drive newbies away, but that's just how it works in nature. The idealistic RI we can hope for is one where people are well informed about role balancing, but that is never gonna happen.
